Recovery is much harder than any of both knees replaced. Now, I can pick up anything in the pantry. Pre-surgery the most I can raise the arm is level to the shoulder.

My 13 year old son just had a partial RC tear repaird Monday morning. Complete tear of about half subscap tendon with a bone avulsion. Very uncommon injury in a youngster. He did it wrestling this winter. They were able to reattch the bone fragment in place so think he should make a full recovery. Time will tell. No other damgage to any structures in/around the joint.

He had the long term block and it started wearing off yesterday. He's a little painful but doing ok. Biggest hurdle is going to be keeping a kid from not using his dominant arm through the recovery process. Started passive motion yesterday. Goes to first PT in am. Will be nothing but passive motion for minimum of 6 weeks. Expected ful recovery 6-8 mos.

I’ve done both shoulder, all the things.

Did PT religiously and followed all directives. I still have trouble with my first one, I think the surgeon was not as good and I waited to long to get fixed.

Ice machines are your friend for pain management. Mobility first, strength second. Keep on the strength. Dry needling can really help when the shoulder flares up post rehab. My two cents

Thanks, all! 9 days out and I’m doing better. Intense pain has gone down and I’m now more sore and tender. Pt is going to great and my range of motion through passive movements is really good.

PT and doc think I’ll have longer residual pain from the bone related work on collar bond and AC joint. I’m eager for that to subside.

Tell ya what, this is mentally a grind with 2 little girls at home and not feeling like I’m very helpful. Wife has been a saint. Headed to the beach for a trip this weekend that we already had scheduled prior to surgery. This has put a damper on my red drum fishing plans but looking forward to trip with my family. Thank goodness there’s a recliner slat the house.

Good luck to him! Tell him to take it easy and not rush into things. I ended up having a second surgery on my labrum on my throwing arm after jumping into baseball season right at 6 months post op.

My left and right shoulders. My right is bad. Bpc-157/ tb-500 have taken the pain away and I'm building strength. AISelect_20260506_141034_Gallery.jpgAISelect_20260506_141049_Gallery.jpg

Will do!. I'm not going to let him wrestle next year. Season will start right about 7 month mark, even if he's cleared. Well just play baseball next spring

Driving home from our beach vacation and nearing the 3 week post-op milestone. Definitely not the preferred way to spend a week on the coast but I still enjoyed it with my family.

Pain is getting better, still pretty sore and have swelling. Most of my pain is on top of the shoulder near the AC joint where they did a fair amount of bone work.

I’ve been really sticking to my PT and icing. Looking forward to getting back to my PT appointments this week to see what else they have in store for me.

Feeling pretty sluggish and eager to start working out again. I’m going to start doing lower body workouts, cardio, and some light upper body with my right arm as I can tolerate. Mentally this has been pretty tough as I lost over 60 pounds in the past 2 years and got in pretty good shape. I hate to lose the muscle and fitness I worked so hard for me but reminding myself this is just a bump in the road.

Take it easy on recovery. You have the rest of your life to have fun...

Bristow procedure many years ago. For range of motion, I'd take a pain pill before morning shower. Then hot shower warming up the shoulder. Then grip overhead shower pipe with steaming hot water on my shoulder and slowly stretch downward till tears were in my eyes and hold. Worked fantastic. Nearly full range of motion (95+ percent). No limitations. Good since 1999.

No ice after! Let the heat do its thing.
