For all you short draw length gents out there I’m curious to here your complete set-ups(DW, DL, arrow breakdown, and FPS). I’m looking to build a new arrow set-up and possibly new bow and just curious to see what everyone else is shooting and getting performance wise out of their rigs.

Well this year it’s going to be an RX3 #3 cam. 27” @ 80#. Arrow will be a 280 Easton Carbon Injexion at 27” with 100gr head weighing 455. Undecided on a Broadhead for this season. I expect to be mid 270s with this configuration, maybe a touch faster.
Last year was an RX1 Turbo at 27.5”. Same arrow at 278fps.

Never put it through the chrono so I have no idea on speed.

BE X-Impact shafts, aluminum Valkyrie collar, 250 grain head. Carbon to carbon=25.625". TAW=545. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 fps. I still get to 100 yards on my sight tape at that velocity.

Have a buddy that has a super short draw. He uses an equalizer release by goat tuff and it helps add a bit of DL for him. Looks like they aren't around anymore but he really likes it. Just passing on the info!

Mathews Triax - 62LBS
26.5" draw
26" ARROWS - cut to cut
340 Spine - Easton HEX with 50 grains brass - 175grn point = 225 up front - approx 466grns
350 Black Eagle Rampage - 56grn insert - 175grn point = 231 up front
(Both shoot lights out - group tune and paper tune unbelievably well)

I also have some 390 spine 6mm FMJ with 100 grain that also shoot and tune very well.

I will be exploring this on the RF Channel this spring. Took my son's bow, which he outgrew. It's one of the bowtech kid packages, adjustable DL/DW. Got it set currently 43#/26" we are calling it "Project Dik Dik", I will be shooting it. I normally shoot 28"/65#
Anyway, I am bare shaft tuning P.D.D. right now. Going to explore low poundage to go find out how that works on critters, in an effort to help short DL kids (parents) and ladies.
I'll post the results. Pigs are starting to behave.
I can always crank it up.

Going to set my daughter up with a 400 gr FMJ set at 50 lb draw weight. Her DL is 24". Tip weight will be 150 gr total, single bevel Cutthroat broadhead. More weight up front to help with "rapid" stabilization to maximize penetration potential.

I do not have a short draw, because of so many shoulder surgeries I can only pull 50#

BowTech Realm X
30" Draw
50#
Shooting Easton Hexx 300 or Victory RIP 350 cut to 29" with a 50 grain brass insert, 125 grain head total total arrow weight 455 grain. Its not a speed demon 255 FPS

I am still not sure what broadhead to shoot for 2019. Looking for the best penetration. Thinking about the Valkyrie system

I am shooting a pair of Elites, A spirt and an Emerge. I shoot them at 28/63 and 28/70 I build them with 80 pound limbs (149 deflection)....they are super efficient with hunting weight arrows and getting great a performance from them.

Howdy Road Runner.
I have been playing with a 43#/26" bow for a spring project I am running on the Ranch Fairy channel as noted. Tuning this rig was actually quite frustrating when I "obeyed the spine charts". But I am a total contrarian. If what is common doesn't work, I throw it out and wander off to find out what does. This keeps me from having too many annoying friends so I can concentrate.

Here's what shoots:
1. 28.5" ICS and Gold Tip 400 or 340 spine + 100 insert + 150-300 grain points. Here's what is interesting... we cut these same spine arrows to 26, per the STUPID SPINE GUESSTIMATER which stiffened them a bunch. The result is a small, very consistent left tail kick I could not get out of it. But, the 28.5" will bare shaft easily. So if it flies perfect, it flies perfect. 28.5" it si.
2. 26" (crazy huh?) GT Kinetic Pierce 300 with 200-300 grains up front. DARTS
3. 28.5" 300 spine Gold Tip Hunter with 150 grain inserts and 125 heads.
4. Here's a mystery. 26" 2219 Easton traditional aluminum with 150 grain point. Bare Shaft Darts. I still can't figure that out.

I am going pretty heavy, obviously. So, I shot the 28.5" arrow in #1 above, with the 100 brass insert and 125 field point yesterday. It was absolutely beautiful. That might be where you want to land for total arrow weight from your initial post with FMJ. Guessing

Anyhoo, if the FMJ's shoot, awesome. If they misbehave a little bit or won't group consistently (the latter was my issue, the "on spine chart" arrows were mischievous and just had a few fliers that I couldn't understand), throw out the bathwater and shoot anything.

Perfect arrow flight should always be goal one. But with low poundage and draw length, its a HUGE"er" thing.
