For those of you that are vertically challenged, such as myself, what is your arrow setup? I am currently shooting an Easton Axis at 455 grains, but am always looking to shake things up a bit

5’8” with a 27in draw. Shooting Axis at 525gr, 200gr upfront. I shoot with a guy who is 6’3”, who shoots a lighter weight arrow than mine. My arrows go about an inch deeper than his.

65lb prime logic at 27". 300 spine BE carnivores with Iron Will componats - 50gr insert, 25gr collar, 125gr wide head, around 475ish total, I think.

26.5 inch draw 70 pounds
Victory RIP 350 with 60gr stainless inserts
100gr head, total right at 400gr
On the light side but shoots awesome

I didn't shoot it through a chrono yet but it should be 280-290 range

Compound - prime Rize, 63lbs, 27” draw, 26” axis 400, 150 VPA 2 blade, 470 grains

longbow - rustic archer 66” longbow, 26” draw, axis 400 @ 28.75”, 175 VPA and 75 grain brass insert, 530 grains

I’ve become a disciple of the hi FOC / heavy’ish arrow. Rarely does being GI Joe sized come with any benefits but in this case it does. Shorter arrows are easier to achieve higher FOC with.
I am launching Victory RIP TKO’s w Ethics Archery components. 90 gn insert & collar + 200 gn Masai broadheads. 576 total grains w Rayzr feathers and nocturnal. Bow is 27” DL and 65lb DW. Super accurate to 60 yds but my hunting shots will all be less than 40 so trajectory penalty is minimized. FOC is just over 26% so they are super stable and hit like a brick. I love this set up.
You have to do the work to tune the arrows and the bow so the broadheads hit w field points. With 200 grains of tomahawk up front, there are no shortcuts. But the payoff is a setup that is very nearly impervious to bone and greatly ups the odds of a humane kill on a less than perfect shot.

Currently shooting a Prime Logic at 80lb/26.5". 25.5" 250 spine X-Impact shaft, Valkyrie 250 Jaggers and aluminum collars. ~550 TAW at 262 fps. I've liked this setup but I'm planning on mixing it up next year.
Going to an 80lb speed bow. Going to try for 285+ with a 450 grain arrow (not sure on shaft/components yet, but probably Kayuga Pilot Cut G2 150s). I focus on bear/deer/pronghorn for archery, so the 550+ setup isn't necessary.
The Prime is very efficient at short draw lengths and the heavy arrows have been great on the couple of animals I've harvested with them, but I can keep withing 5% of my momentum and gain a lot of trajectory/range back. I'll probably keep the 550 Valkyrie arrows for Africa and elk if I care to archery hunt them.

420 grain setup.
27.5" draw.
68.5 lbs.
277 fps
New to bow, 3 months in, still increasing pull, end up around 283 fps.
FOC: just shy of 15%.

Mathews ChillR 70lb limbs cranked all the way down. Maybe 72lb.?
26.5” DL;
252fps. with a 464 grain arrow:
Easton Axis 340 with brass insert and 100gr. heads.
Not the fastest in the world but simple, quiet, and deadly.

Prime CT3 27.25 inch draw at 72lbs. Gold Tip XT hunter 300 spine with 100 grain insert and 100 grain head. 475 grain arrow or 500 if I use 125s.

Bow is quiet and fast enough for me to feel comfortable shooting game out to 60-70 yards depending on conditions.

I’m right around 270 FPS

Gold Tip XT Hunter 340 cut to 27.5", 100gr broadhead, 30gr weight screwed into the insert. 420gr total.
27" Draw length, pulling 65#. Elite Impulse 31. ~273 fps.

Mathews VXR 31.5 @ 74 lbs and 27 inch draw
Easton Axis 340 with 50 gr insert cut to 26.25
125 Quad Exodus
Around 460 gr total

Daughter is shooting 26" GT Falcons with 125gr. Woodsman heads, 45#. Got the job done on a 3x3 muley on Saturday.

Now that she has gotten the bug, some Kinetics are in her future with some added weight up front.

(Of course, the great coaching and training by dad gladly accepts most of the credit for her perfect 35 yard shot (her max range).)
