Today's session revealed a lot for me.
1. I was trying to get pictures thru Nx8's and they are tough to get a cell phone to find the sweet spot. I am guessing that, while their "tight" eyebox issue is over blown, it is something. I have never had an issue when hunting, but today it was a chore to take pictures above 4x. I had another scope out with a much easier eyebox and it was no problem. That scope is SFP, with better glass. The steel is 535 yards and is 8" round.

2. My 22cm is a shooting sum bitch albeit slower than I'd like. It's a Tikka action, pbb 18" with a .30 cal OG on it. 1st group last session showed great accuracy, but I had a heavy bolt lift on a rd, so today I backed off a grain and shot 2 more 10 shot groups. Todays rounds had no pressure signs and averaged right at 3000fps with a 77tmk. The OG is great for size, but is too loud for my liking on the 22CM. I have a OG6.5 en route and hopefully that fixes that issue. If it does, the OG 30 cal will likely spend it's life on my boy's .223 or I will sell it. I love the compactness and look of this rifle, so I'd like to stay with the OTB style on it. 20251229_143816.jpg

Today's 2, 10 shot groups. I adjusted the scope a click up and a click left on the .591 group. Clearly should have gone 2 each. Damn the coldbore, low bullseye on the first one 🤣 or the 2 groups would be close to identical.

3. My 6.5cm has been an absolute tack driver. The load is 42g of H4350 under a 130 vld. My velocity in a 20" C6 was 2890 fps. I wrote a few months ago about how my new keg of H4350 seemed like it was around a 100fps slower than my previous keg. I noticed this in my 300 win. Well, today was the first time shooting the CM with the new H4350. Sure enough, my velocity is on average 80 fps less than the last ammo. No big deal, as it still shot great, bit something to note and change in my ballistic calculator. I did a quick 0 check on it today. It went thru a couple of rough trips here in Az as well as on a few planes. Appears it might be a 1/4- 1/2 moa left, but did not affect my hit rate today. (I only had 3 rounds left when I decided to check the 0 for shits and grins.) I went 4 out 5 on my 735 yard 8" steel with my only miss being the first shot that just right of the target. I held 1 moa wind and the next 4 all made contact. 20260116_153517.jpg
0 check aiming for the Middle of the upside R.

Lastly, the Leica Geovid Ab's are pretty BA. Quickly threw out my range and solution and was really easy to switch profiles. Matched up with my phone AB almost exactly. Doubtful, that I will ever input actual wind, more just throw in 5, or 10 mph and adjust based on what I think actual conditions are.

Top 2 are from today and new H4350, bottom is From April and part of the last 100 rds loaded on the old keg of H4350.
Is this common with h4350? My 6.5 lost about 100 fps when i switched to a new pound of powder. Never got a load with the 147 eldm to shoot as well as it did with the original pound. Switched to a 140 eldm and the guns shooting well now but still slow. Getting ready to buy an 8lber now and really can't afford to lose any more velocity.

How old was the old pound?
I couldn't say for sure. I didn't open it to start load dev. with that bullet, but I don't think it was very old. Guessing maybe a year? I am just starting to get serious with the smaller cartridges and didnt use a lot of 4350 type powders, so its possible it had been ooen longer than that.

I am not certain. My first 8lber was roughly 2 years old when I used the last bit of it. Unfortately, I was not loading the same cartridges when I first opened my old 8 lb. Hard for me to conclude that it sped up over time or if was just overall faster than the new 8lb. My buddy today said Bass pro sold me some Temu H4350 this time. 😆
