I used the following magazines:
- S Mags: 6-round and 10-round versions
- M Mags: 6-round
- Mamba .223 mags: 10-round
One note: you can only load 5x 6 ARC rounds in a 6-round .223 magazine. Similar issue for 10-round .223 magazines.
I encountered issues with the .223 magazines - there wasn’t enough of the cartridge exposed for consistent loading, especially when the rifle and magazine got wet/dirty or when loading the last round. For the M mags, the rounds were shorter than the magazine slot, which sometimes caused them to get pinched or sit in awkward positions. I also tried an NDr .223 magazine, but it didn’t feed at all.
There may be some underlying issues with my rifle or possibly with the batch of Hornady 108gr ELDM ammunition I was using, which could have contributed to these problems.
I believe the solution is to use Waters 6mm magazines. I’m ordering some and will report back with results.
