What scope covers are those? For what it’s worth:
This rifle has been used for the last 3 S2H classes. It is more than 3,000 rounds by students, and somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500 by me. It is conservatively over 4,000 rounds since new. The bore has not been cleaned, wiped down, or had anything but bullets put through it (snow, rain, and sand excluded). The can is over 3,000 rounds on this rifle- nothing has been done to it either. The rifle and scope was dropped by a student in the Winter course onto concrete and bent the elevation turret severely. It was hammered back straight- it was still zeroed and has worked fine since.

Magically it still works, still groups, and has not blown up from not cleaning. As well, there are multiple S2H rental 223’s with between 8,000 and 10,000 rounds on them that are all the same.
Must be flukes….
I was about to call BS. Had to pull out my rifle to look. Elevation 4.5 … I would have preferred a verbal whoopin in the moment. You didn’t reset your turret on the last shots…. Just sayin.
Haha

How many flawless R700s at the second class?![]()
Rokcaps? lolWhat scope covers are those?
Rokcaps? lol
Zero. There was one shot last week, but only for about 40’ish rounds I think. In actual use at classes, I believe we are 0 for 6 or 7 custom R700 based rifles being reliable for even a couple of mags this year. One last week averaged about 4 malfunctions per 10 rounds.
grin.
I already knew the answer before i asked it. If you let people train in perfect conditions then the tide might shift!![]()
I'm looking at a Tikka build now thanks to what I saw at the first class. But I have my fingers crossed on the MRC lefty availability timeline. That's my preferred option.
Interesting choice of scopes, how did the leupy and Athlon hold up?Being that it’s been a while and I did the rifle above,
I keep seeing people using the ADI 55 and 69 and I feel like I’ve been missing out on using them. For what it’s worth:

@Jimbee and I are signed up for a ‘26 class. All these posts are getting me super excited. Looking for some feedback from recent students and Form. How many 223 rounds do you recommend brining? Anything you wish you brought that you didn’t or wasn’t on the pack list? What other fresh insights can you all pass along? Thanks in advance!
