I passed on a lot of does and small bucks when I was getting into bow hunting because where I am Sept 1 to Oct 31 is bow and Nov 1-30 is rifle so I can still look for the big guys in the snow.

Passed on a 3x3 one afternoon only to have this 4x4 come out and he was the first deer I ever killed with a bow

Great advice given by many. It really only matters what you decide you will be happy with. Venison is great table fare and spending time in the woods just can't be beat. Enjoy the journey.

Like said above, I would start off with taking a doe. Go through the process of making a shot, let your excitement and emotions be exposed and begin to understand them to be able to control them in the future.

No I only have 1 tag I can apply for a second but it’s a special draw and it’s not guaranteed.

Don't shoot that baby. By the way what are the GPS coordinates so I can initiate the correct mitigation efforts.
Jk. It's your tag and your trophy. Archery is hard. Shoot what you want and ENJOY the interaction.
