San carlos app is coming up and thought I'd apply for the first time in several years. There have been some interesting changes. You can no longer find any hunting regs online, including how much tags cost, how many tags are available, which units require a tribal guide AND what the season dates are. Their old website was often out of date and had conflicted regs, but there was some info like season dates and prices.
I called and the nice lady on the phone told me the only way to get regs was come in person and promptly hung up. I'm familiar with SWD, hunted there before and understand they are anything but accommodating, but this is next level. It's a cool place to hunt and I'd like to go back but boy do they make it almost impossible.

It’s definitely a new low for them, which was already an incredibly low bar.

Called and they say the online apps are for 2027, not 2026. Which is crazy if true (it’s not). Say they don’t know any season dates, and that the apps might close this week or next week — they don’t know.

So you have to apply for a season you don’t know the dates for, for a year you can’t get confirmation on, on a timeline they don’t know.

It’s sad, because I intentionally try to pour as much money as I can into that area whenever I go for a hunt. Buy all my groceries there, all gas, etc. Besides the casino, a large portion of the rest of the rez looks like a 3rd world country.

Now along with an already struggling casino, they are killing the last remaining thing to bring money to the rez it seems….

Yea I was going to try and get out there either way for spring bear but now probably not. I don’t know if it’s FCFS or draw, season dates, used to need no guide, then you needed one for all bear, then I read recently where they dropped that?

Who knows, it’s a shame for sure.
