SHERPA GAME CART

My favorite game cart I've used is the Honey Badger. I don't own one, but a buddy does and it makes packing game out on closed logging roads or game trails super easy.

IMO...I've used probably 3 or 4 different makes of carts and a couple homemade versions. If possible get the biggest wheel/tires you can (not in width). 100% can make the difference of the cart being a hinderance or help is non-groomed terrain. Also, check relative height over all or handle length. having to crouch or bend to hold the cart level ad push/pull it defeats the purpose. Most the carts regardless of design generally will function the same but again wheel height IMO is paramount.

I don’t get those carts. Anywhere I’ve ever gone is nowhere you’d be able to use one of those. But maybe you all have spots that are flat and brush-free?

Makes a big diff when you can use a 2 or 4 wheel cart on a 2 track, oak flat, prairie, or just plain road behind a gate.

OP - I have one of the less pricey ones and it works great - we use em to carry stuff in and out on day hunts as well.

2 of my buddies bought a game tote , very easy for 2-3 guys to carry out a elk over rough terrain
a meat wagon is awesome for hunting nilgai in the LAWR , handling sand two track & mud easy

That makes sense. Thank you for not immediately assuming I’m trying to piss you off by saying I don’t understand them and their utility.

For sure! We all hunt diff areas.

You probably scale mountains and i hunt cypress swamps. Both circumstances dont allow for carts.

I bought a used deer cart off Craigslist a decade ago. It has served me well. The wheels are canted which means I can run over downed trees without turning it over usually. Not sure of the brand.

I bought a hawk game cart. It has tires with tubes but the tire is pretty stout itself. Easily replaced with puncture proof dolly cart wheels. I like it because it has 4 wheels and they all pivot independently to go over rocks and logs.
I just purchased 2 of these at a field and steam store on clearance for $62. They were 75% so I thought I would by two and sell the second. Have not used it yet but after putting together I think I’m going to keep both and leave one at camp. Certainly seems better than my old cabelas 2 wheeler. It has a nice grip that is extended which should make for easier hauling. I wish I had it at the start of last season. Old one has thinner solid tires that would get stuck in mud. I think the fatter tubes tires will be much better.

Looks like a good solid cart, @KM5019 After you've used it some report back on how it works. I'm especially interested in whether or not the tubed tires give you flat problems.

Will do. I’m optimistic about this cart. I have friends that use the gorilla cart with tubed wheels and have no problems. I almost bought one of those but they tip easily. This cart is well balanced and should not tip. I’m just curious to see how much it hangs up on sticks.

My wife picked up a used bicycle “kid trailer” at a thrift store for $20. 2 pieces of 3/4” emt conduit and a piece of plywood for the floor and we were able to wheel 160lbs of camp gear 4.5 miles in on a closed road. I wouldn’t have hunted there if I had to haul it all in/out on my back. It’s in storage for the winter or I’d post up a pick.

Only pic I can find. The point is, they don’t have to cost $500. Just use your imagination.

My dad and I made these Critter Carts together and they have been wonderful. Up to a rag horn bull whole is fine. A really large bull might have to go in halves. It's designed for two people but one person could handle a deer by themselves. I have personally had 3 whole antelope on the cart and pushed it across the prairie over in central Montana. With two people no trail or road necessary. Going uphill on steeper hills you side hill angled upwards and switchback when needed. Going over logs you just lift the cart up and over. With a deer or antelope on it coming to a fence is simple enough if there's no gate. Push the cart up to where the handles are over the fence on one side. Your partner hops over the fence and grabs the bars and you two lift it up and over the fence. Offloading at the pickup is simple. Drop the tailgate and roll the Critter Cart up to and parallel to the tailgate. It's just slightly lower than the tailgate. One person holds the cart while the second pulls the animal into the truck. It has brakes and we use motocross motorcycle tires for great traction.

Whole spike bull above.

Whole cow elk below. I'm holding the cart while my hunting partner takes a pic.

My son below when he was just a pup. Grandpa pushing him to doe whitetail I had just shot.

Here's my son with his first elk. Front quarters in our packs and rear half on the cart. If someone wants to make a cart like this for themselves I would be willing to take close-up pictures and some measurements to send them to you. If so shoot me a PM. The cart folds in the center so it fits easily in the pickup and for storage. I hang them from a hook on the wall in the garage.

Back to OP's question, does anyone know if Sherpa Hunting closed recently? Tried going on their site to order a bike attachment and no luck.

That thing looks legit. There’s a guy in my area that used to make and sell something similar. My son and I have committed to training and packing a couple of horses, so my cart pushing days are numbered, 🤞🏼

I have a hawk crawler too, only used it once, but though it’s the heaviest cart I have used, it’s worth the weight, because it pulls a lot easier than the regular cabelas 2 wheel carts I used in the past. The Rambo is another good one, especially if you use a bike

We moved some critters with those crappy 2 wheel carts though, the 2 most memorable were a couple big bears I killed, we certainly torture tested those carts, they suck in swamp mud, but we got it done, mostly out of stubbornness, it certainly wasn’t as efficient as we expected
