SG Solo 3600

Is the Stone Glacier solo 3600 enough bag for 3-4 days packing in elk hunting?

Also lookjng at something like 4800cu.

I think it is, assuming you have a down sleeping bag. Could always add the lid if you need a bit extra. Or put a dry bag in the meat shelf area.

IMO, yes. I'm getting that out of EXO's old 2200 bag. You could also use the options above, but I can't imagine you need so much crap you can't fit it in a 3600.

Thanks for the replies. That what I thought, but I have never packed in wirh camp on my back. We had pack mules the last time we went.

Really depends on how bulky your sleep bag and shelter are? If down bag/quilt and it compresses well, and you’re not using a large poled tent, piece of cake.

I’ve done it with the smaller original solo using a hilleberg and just keeping tent poles on outside of pack, and compressing tent in stuff sack. Tight with a 2-man tent.

Weather would be the other big thing. If you’re using a large synthetic puffy for late season work it would be too small I’m betting. As long as your clothing isn’t excessive again shouldn’t be a problem.

With a lid you’re at 4100 ci, which is pretty decent size for 3-4 days using lighter gear.

I have the 3300 with the access bag. I was out for 3 days and it was a little bit of a squeeze but doable. I also ended up getting their load cell bag as well if I needed more space for longer trips. My thought process was with a bigger bag you tend to fill the space up versus actually needing to decide what is necessary in a smaller bag.

I tend to gravitate towards a larger bag. I like having the extra space if needed. If I don’t need the extra space then I just cinch it down. Always plan and pack according to the trip.

I had the 3600 then bought the 4800. 3600 was a squeeze but with more packable gear and possibly using the load shelf for over flow it’s doable. The 4800 was a lot more practical.

Based on your name I am assuming an archery season, and hopefully an early one? I have one and could make it work for such a hunt, though I'd probably step up in size if I could. You're going to need to pack very efficiently for 4 days with such a pack.

Yes, it's archery season and we're going in around the 8th of September.

x2. I've used mine for the last 5 years for day hunts in bivy mode and it cinches down really nicely. never thought it was too bulky or that it was getting in the way.
