Anyone have the PH3 in 7mm REM Mag? See it comes in 1:8 twist and looks like you could really seat the bullet out a ways in that mag. It’s been discontinued and prices are couple hundred less than the PRC. I reload and wondering if grabbing one of these discounted and being able to load 175’s further out (3.4-3.5”) and I would assume you’d meet or exceed the 7prc ballistics. Anyone have one in REM Mag or is the 7prc model rad enough to just pony up extra $.

7RM is a capable cartridge. The nice thing about 7prc is the SAAMI 1:8 twist for heavy bullets. My 7RM kills things dead with 162gr ELD-M bullets from a Steyr 1:9 twist 25.6" barrel. Furthest kill is 505yd on an elk, one shot, double lung, ran 20 yards then stumbled and slid about 20yd down the hill. Dead in under 20 seconds.

Since the Seekins 7RM has a 1:8 that's a plus and should allow you to step on it.

I would look at Peterson "long" brass for it. There is a video on the link below showing the benefits.

A 22 inch seekins in 7mm rem mag with threaded barrel to suppress with the fast twist would be tops on my list. My only question would be chamber tolerances. Is a factory 7mm rem mag chamber cut with as tight of tolerances as a 7mm prc for neck dimensions and other chamber dimensions or do they need to have a little slop for factory ammo? I have heard the 7prc factory ammo to chamber dimensions are tighter bad for function possibly but for long range requiring max accuracy might be superior.

I went with the 7PRC. So far I’ve gotten 165 Norma Bonstrikes through it (gun did not like that bullet) and 168 Berger Classic Hunters (sub 1/2” groups). I’m wanting to run 175 Berger Elite Hunters but can’t find any in stock anywhere right now. Have a sample pack of 175 ELDX and 195 Berger EOL loaded to see how they do. Using N565 powder. Berger 168’s were running 2,950 with a 70 grain charge seated at 3.3”. Getting a sample pack of 175 Matchking X coming also to tinker with. Waiting on the Swift Z bullet to release also. Peterson Brass.
