Seekins Chassis now available

I just held one of the element hunters at Scheels today - the chassis is very nice. Folding mechanism is definitely robust and I like it a lot. Grip felt fine, but with the trigger lock on there, it's hard to get a real good feel for it.

I certainly don't "need" one, but with a sheep hunt coming up in August, I'm weighing my options. I have a Gunwerks Magnus 7 SAUM that is just a few ounces shy of 10 lbs scoped. I need to pull the stock off and weigh it to see how it compares to this chassis. Besides the weight, the ability to fold it and have a much more compact rifle is really appealing.
My local Scheels had the standalone chassis for sale without trigger locks on them. Feels great without the trigger lock. I noticed they were like $50 cheaper then seekins website too

What’s the trick to getting the 3 rd mdt to release easier. I had to pull the bolt back and push down from the inside to get it started.

Springfield Waypoint 2020 actions with BSF barrels. One short 6.5CM, one long 7mm Rem Mag
Could u take a pic of how the rear action tang sits in the seekins chassis ? I'm wondering if it's captured or just rests on top like the hnt26.

@hoooogan do you recall what selection of Seekins model you made to order the backstop pad?

Also you think it manages recoil any better? I shot my 7wsm on the chassis finally this week and at 9lbs it could use some recoil mitigation.

Hi Does anyone know if the chasis will fit a proof research sendero barrel? And if so, any quirks to it? Thanks so much.

It was the Havak Element Hunter model option under the Seekins brand. It doesn't really matter which model you select since the "Dove" SKU is the same for all the Seekins models.

In this chassis with the backstop pad, I don't even think about recoil but its only 6.5 CM. On the other hand, I have the same pad on my 7RM in the HNT26 chassis. It handles recoil extremely well at 9lbs with ammo and bipod. I don't wanna sound like a Backstop fangirl, but I am. I could shoot either rifle all day and I feel like the pad makes a difference.

FWIW, I'm far more concerned with my Henry 44 Mag. If they made a pad for it, I would buy one in a heartbeat. I even bought one for a buddy's Model 70 featherlight that he doesn't like to shoot. TBD how that turns out since he hasn't shot it yet. I'm sure it'll help.

It won't without some modifications. I just dropped a Proof Sendero Light barrel in mine and it fits perfectly though.

For those with OMR or other larger contour barrels, opening up the channel is pretty easy. Patience and some sweat equity.

7/8” through 1 1/4” deep sockets for concentricity & to match barrel contour/open up edges.

40, 60, 80, 100 grit sandpaper, 40 is the heavy material mover, progress to finer grit to finish.

Periodically check clearance.

OMR barrel floated and lost an ounce of weight.
How much material did you have to sand out to make it fit? And what is the diameter of your barrel?
