I've got an extra Husqvarna 1640 rifle in 30-06 that i'm looking to have rebarreled in .284 win.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a simple barrel swap, matching factory contour, and a nice cerakote.

I don't need high end match grade precision, but I don't want sloppy work either.

I am leaning towards sending it to Douglas Barrels, as their prices and turnaround seem reasonable.

I'm sure there are tons of great gunsmiths out there plenty capable as well, so I figured I would check in with you folks here to see what you recommend. I have no gunsmiths anywhere near me, so I'm willing to ship it wherever.

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes the Husqvarna action originally built for 6.5x55, 8x57, 30-06 and 9.3x62 somehow feeds the .284 win cases beautifully. I was pleasantly surprised to learn this when playing around with it one day. I think it will be a great match for the rifle. While it is a "long action" it's on the short side similar to a T3x, so .284 should leave me plenty of breathing room vs 280 rem or similar.
