Anyone using seek outside tents? Curious your thoughts. I like Hyperlite’s tents, but not sure I want to refinance my student loans to buy a tent. I’m trying to go much much lighter for next year. I’ve never been a devoted ultralight guy, but hunting has enough add-ons compared to traditional backpacking, that I’m looking to really cut ounces for next season. I tend to hunt solo or 2 man.

I run a Silvertip and a Cimarron- Silvertip for 2 outside of running a stove, solo w/ stove- Cimarron is comfy with three w/o a stove, two w/ a stove; I run a Cub stove- their smallest

their tents are well made and function nicely; if you don't ever plan on running a stove- also look at MLD and Sixmoon Designs

Do you want to use a wood stove?
Cimmaron is hard to beat
Silvertip solo is nice with a CUB stove:

Looks like the Silvertip set up nice, I've got one coming next week UPS. Do you feel that there is a lot of condensation in the tent? Does that one vent do a good job with ventilation? I have a large SO stove now, I'll have to downsize I'm sure.

I've found that lengthening the guy lines (over what they come with) allows for a higher pitch- this improves circulation (and decreases condensation) AND provides more livable space- if it's the storm of the century, you can still pitch it tight to the ground :)

I really don't like the vent.
I always use a stove so i dont care about condensation,i deal with it.I think youre large can be ok,less wood prep.

Thank you for the input. I'm in North Carolina, so the stove isn't always needed here.

I've had a SO 6 man tipi for 6 years or so and have been very happy with it, nothing like warming up by the stove after a long cold day.

SO makes good stuff. I have their DST tarp and it is amazing. Also want their Cimarron and U-turn stove.

I have a Redcliff and stove (which is much heavier than you are looking for) but Seek Outside quality and customer service is top notch!

at this point I’m not looking for a stove set-up, more general backpacking. So you recommend the MLD and Sixmoon?

I can highly recommend the Duomid (or Duomid XL) from MLD, quality shelter that's nice and light; larger yet- the Supermid

before pulling the pin on one of these (or other), it might be possible for Seek Outside to retrofit the fit the stove jack at a later date- worth calling to see if that's possible

I run the Seekoutside Lil big out with vestibule for backpacking hunts. I have been very impressed with their quality I also have the connecting tarp Ill use if more than 1 buddy hunts with me. The tarp makes it a palace. I have yet to get a stove but its on my list. Just not a whole lot of quality back country oregon hunts that really need a stove. For the late season stuff I usually just set up the big canvas tent, and wood stove and day hunt since most areas I hunt I can cover in 5-6 miles of hunting.

3 if you don't have too much gear,,very doable.

It seems like the 8 person would cover all bases, but gosh that thing looks big to carry up a mountain. It’s an honest problem when you have a lot of hunting friends. Thanks for the reply
