I’m not a huge fan of peat, so Clynelish 14 and Royal Lochnagar are my 2 favorites. Lots of other good whisky out there though.

Oban 14 it is. That will be my next purchase. It wasn't on my radar so I was surprised it had so many recommendations. Looking forward to trying it!

I think tonight I'll enjoy some Hibiki Suntory Whisky Japanese Harmony.

Cheers!

I keep a bottle of Lagavulin 16 hidden in the garage.
I also keep a Lagavulin 16 bottle full of Dewars in the front of the liquor cabinet.
That second one has been sucked dry by "friends" a few times.

Funny!

I don't mind Lagavulin 16. Much more so than Laphroaig 10.

Have you tried the Suntory Toki?

I dont want to sound effeminate, but rather than whiskey or beer (which is what most men drink back in camp after a long day of hunting) I have a strong preference for Italian and Spanish wines. I always take 1 six pack of Coors but the rest is red wine (Sangiovese, Tempranillo, and Garnache).

I'm normally more of a bourbon or rum drinker but I always have a bottle of Lagavulin 16 and Aberlour A'Bunadh around one for peat, one for sherry sweet.

I have a few Bourbons mainly to enjoy when my dad comes over. He doesn't care for Scotch. He's a Kentucky boy. Angel's Envy, Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Woodford Reserve Double Oak (and the Rye version). They have grown on me over the past year. Prefer Scotch but no issues enjoying some Bourbon.

You might like Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask which is finished in Caribbean rum cask.

No judgement. It's all good. I hike back in and set up camp. No ETOH for me. My pack is already heavy enough. :)

Lag 16 or Laphroaig quarter cask for peat(worth the cost from the 10 year) and the select is shitty.
Balveinie double wood for non peat. Also Dalwhinnie is excellent.

I prefer Lowland with less peat. Auchentoshan makes some good ones. Bladnoch and Glasgow Distillery also make some good ones. Others I like are from Speyside, like Balvenie 14yr Carribean Cask. It's aged in rum casks and is very good.

One that I really like for a cheaper scotch is Shackleton. Neat story to go along with it too.

I worked with a Scotsman for many years and through many hangovers figured out what I like.

Best Scotch I've had so far is the Macallan Rare Cask, but haven't been able to justify paying $300 for a bottle yet.

If you're looking for a genuinely good Scotch but budget friendly, go with Spey River finished in Rum casks, bout $30 sum for a bottle.

Bunnahabhain 12 and Bruichladdich Islay Barley for a couple non-peated Islay single malts. Both very delicious. Also recently picked up a bottle of Arran 12 Cask Strength that's pretty killer as well.
