Scored a rifle thats been on my list

Very nice I have a soft spot for lever guns. Just out of curiosity to those that have or like these rifles what is the main attraction with them? To me they are just so foreign I was never able to get on board with them. I’m a hammer, and side loading gate kind of guy with my lever guns I grew up on a pre 64 94 Winchester though. My uncle has a savage 99 and that thing is just wrong to me in every way when I pick it up. I always just assumed it was about the cartridge offerings and ease of scope mounting that made these designs so well liked?

Beautiful rifle and great find, there is something special about older guns, seems they are much better finished and being used probably has character marks from previous hunts congrats.
