Scope Zero Check Thread

This was honestly cool to see. Even though it’s more of a fluke than anything haha.

This 6.5-7 of mine has been uncased in the truck for over 3000 miles, been strapped to my pack TIGHT for dozens of miles and has killed 4 animals in 3 states since I last checked it. I haven’t shot it at paper since early September.

This was the first shot out of it at 100 yards this morning. I planned to shoot a group, but had to walk down and take this picture after the first shot lol.

seems slightly off, should recheck you torque specs and ammo or hell, buy a whole new setup because this is trash!

Look out, you will get chased all over the internet because your zero is not statistically significant 😂

Another 2,000 miles in the truck, 200 miles in the side by side and 1 animal for the 6.5-7 PRC.

Only shot it at 860 yards when I got home before the next hunt, didn’t actually check 100 yard zero. But it’s still hammering.

Removed my scope and rings to reinstall with higher torque. Checked zero with last 10 rounds from this case/lot and was off.
Didn’t bother to adjust, heading back out tomorrow with a new case of ammo so I’ll re-zero off that lot…

I've been doing zero checks on my truck gun these past few months. Results have been great and I've learned that I can not trust a group from one day of shooting -some days I suck more than others! The good news is that my system survived several thousand miles of limerock roads, four airline flights, and my cousin using it to test the hardness of a granite boulder. I've been regularly dialing to 400 and back in the middle of all this.

Haven’t shot a rifle in over a year, and boy do I need to practice. 10 shot group, T3x with some minor stock modifications at 100yds. Shooting factory 143eldx. About to send this barrel off to get cut and threaded, then I’ll start with load development.

Same 6.5-7 PRC I’ve been using all season, topped with a 5-25X50 Tenmile. Another 2,000+ miles in the truck and side by side. And 7 days in the field. When I got home I decided to test a new bullet for my last hunt. Loaded up five 144 LRHT’s and shot them for speed and accuracy. Still zeroed.

Hadn't checked this in a while. 5 rd quick check today. March, Talleys, Remington combination continues to be 100% functional.

Checked the .223 again yesterday. Since last check rifle has been on work & personal hunting and shooting trops - driven a few thousand km & flown around on the floor of a helicopter, shot 101 wild goats and a few deer, and a NRL hunter style match (3rd individual score, although not officially ranked as .223 clearly doesn't make pf). Did not shoot zero board at the match (I never do).

Remington, Talley ultralights and March F continue to be a robust, precise, functional system.

Something like 59 out of the last 60 rounds I've fired with this rifle checking zero since I set it for this load back in March of this year have fallen inside a 1MOA circle. Always shot prone on the gravel with an atlas bipod and a lightweight rear bag. It has been used for work and personal hunting and shot matches. Probably killed 500 odd animals this year with it - goats deer pigs tahr. It just works.

I finished load verification at 1,000 a few weeks ago on the new 7PRC barrel.
Checked 600 last week.

went to 800, wind picked up, straight 90 deg crosswind, took a click off after the top 2, and I just kept bouncing l/r. I'll never shoot anything at 800 but the wind changing from 2mph to 5mph and back sure moved things around.

108s and 115s out of my Tikka 6 Creed both still appear to be zero’d. 3mph right to left wind. 5 in the 115 group, just 3 in the 108. Now if I can just get a coyote to hear a call..IMG_5422.jpeg

Post 2 weeks of bumping around on Afognak. 7-08 tikka, maven 1.2, spuhr tikka mount. Showing a decent shift but everything is tight and markings indicate no movement, not bedded in its rokstock.

Considering swapping the spuhr to um rings

There are Spurs on a TRG I am using, and they are showing .2 to almost .3 mils shifts randomly from riding in the truck on gear.

First 10 rounds out of the TRG Sept. 5th-

Had a couple checks inbetween that were on the edge or slightly out of the cone for this gun- but still on the 1.5 MOA dot. Then in November-

Now, it’s not a lot, but the gun is very precise- it’s largest 10 round group it has shot is the very first picture. It also could be the scope, as it is an unknown- but, my previous use with Spuhr mounts has been poor.

Do you think that's generally because of the ring spacing or something else?

All of it. Spuhr’s historically have done poorly with impacts and long term zero retention. The ring design is poor, the small screws for bases don’t hold well, etc.
