Gotcha, sorry I didn't understand why you were asking.

Everything on the rifle has been degreased and torqued to spec but not loctited. When I put it together everything I was reading said you can't get a proper torque spec with loctite. Obviously that thinking has changed since then but the rifle always shot "good enough" so I never bothered to take it apart to loctite.

Action is not bedded but the barrel is free floated (probably could be more).

Muzzle device is an Ultra 7.

So everything is suspect, except for oil/ grease in the wrong spot. Lots of stuff to work through before you can say what the cause was.

Yeah I definitely need to tear everything apart and redo it. I also just realized that the last time the rifle was apart was when TBAC cut and threaded the barrel for me and I never checked torque after that.

Initial zero with updates to follow

Hornady American Whitetail 139gr
Mid 20's Fahrenheit yesterday
Shot off a front bag only

This rifle was passed down to me, unfired, from my father-in-law. Serial number looks like it is a 1994. These are rounds 23-33 on the rifle. The first 22 rounds were random loose/unboxed 7RM ammo that I used to do initial zero and play around at 200yd steel with. We are planning a mule deer hunt this fall and I would love to drop one with this gun... think that would be special... he is really like a father to me. I will be shooting this rifle a lot this year and will probably sub it in for woodchuck control this spring/summer to get more practice on it. I have only shot up to a 6.5CM thus far so recoil is noticeably more. I don't know that I would have called shot #10, but totally possible shooter error on that one.

Stopped on my way home to run some more rounds through the 25 CM.

These are rounds 66-75 on the barrel.

I swapped the chassis since last time I shot it and also pulled all the scope ring bolts to add loktite and then torqued.

You swapped chassis and also removed/remounted your scope... and still had that for a zero when you checked?! Nice!

Just recently picked up this gun locally from a fellow rokslider. Tikka with 22 creed barrel from carbon 6. Made a scope adjustment at the house so I checked zero. First group required a little adjustment. 10 shots just north of the bullseye so made a one tenth adjustment and put 3 on a little brown pasty. The biggest group I have shot with this gun has been 10 shots, but it just refuses to shoot over an MOA. Here is my 3 shot confirmation on a sticker before I left.

Shots #11-17 after ~20 miles in the truck bed on rough back roads and dirt roads. No adjustments made yet. Grouping not great, about 2.75" excluding shot #10, but zero looks to be holding so far... Going to start load dev soon I think.

Today I zeroed the Tikka 223 with my Zeiss LRP 3 that @Formidilosus tested all last year.

This was ten quick shots after bore sighting. I shot those ten and adjusted right 1 tenth before putting it away. That's a .5" dot.

I also fired a couple ten round groups with the 25 CM with different loads from when it was zeroed last week.

Barrel is still not fully broke in/settled in. Once that's complete and velocity is consistent, I'll zero it fully.

Went out to try the 7PRC with Leupold VX5HD, planned on dropping it but didn’t make it that far. The rifle has seen may 100km in the back seat of the truck and POI shifted low 2.5 MOA. Really wish these scopes would hold up, I think they would be perfect for a hunting scope, but no way I would trust one

You're sure it was the scope? What were the rings? Was it mounted with everything degreased, ring screws adequately torqued and located/paint penned? That would be helpful info.

Not intended to start discussion in this thread, but it's helpful info to include in the zero check post

Everything was degreased, loctited, and torqued appropriately. Rings are the dreaded talleys, but I’ve used them on this rifle (and proofed them with a credo) also have them bonded to the action as much as you can and have never had a problem.

Rings aren’t cracked or bent and scope didn’t slip in the rings. Everything is still torqued appropriately. I was really hoping what I was reading on these scopes was false, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

Ran out real quick between squalls to study some hunches I’ve had about using more than one thread adapter for a can, cold bore suppressed shots, that sorta thing…. So I fired 2 groups with my 22-250, and 2 with my 6 Creed. There doesn’t appear to be a real discernible accuracy difference and both scopes are still nicely zeroed… I had a good thing going with the suppressed 22-250 group until that 5th one to the left. Both groups were fired at the same POA, very consistent POI change with the Polonium 30 hangin off the end.

Banged some steel at 465 and 600 and called it good.IMG_3163.jpeg
