Scope recommendations

Just bought a couple of older BSA CF2 rifles. Both identical sporters. One in 222 Remington and the other 30-06. Must admit that being in my mid 50’s, my eyesight is not what it used to be. The 222 will be dual purpose punching paper out to 300 yards and varminting out to about the same distance. The ‘06 will strictly be hunting. Without breaking the bank, what do you suggest for each?

A SWFA fixed 10 x 42 would work nicely on the 222, and is in stock for $299.00. The same scope would work on the 30-06, but may not be ideal. A Trijicon 3-9 x 40 Accupoint or Credo would be other alternativess, but more expensive.
