Scope Bumper Scope caps

Yes. I think they are a bit too expensive for me. I could get a new scope for the cost of three sets.

Not to be disagreeable, but I think about it this way: if it could make the difference between me making the shot or having to clear snow/rain/fog/dust/debris out of my lens and possibly damage it if in a hurry or just lose the opportunity...it's a cheap investment compared to the cost of the rest of the hunt. And it's protection for a far more expensive bit of gear.

For me personally, we also generally have short seasons out here (2-3 weeks even sometimes), game is scarce, tags take years to get, gas, etc...and these caps are the cost of a few boxes of ammo. Easy choice, for such a critical item in making a shot, when opportunity can be so damned limited. Especially if it's also providing some armor to the bell.

There's been so many times in years past I've tried to save a bit of money by going the middle-value or budget route, only to end up needing to spend again on the same type of thing because the first, second, or third level of items just didn't work out for some reason, didn't last, etc. I've had enough disappointment with other scope cap options over the years, that paying for what appears to be excellence is actually a relief.

Good points. When compared with the monetary cost of a hunt or the potential lost opportunity on a hunt, the $150 is relatively trivial. If I was headed out west for a week long backcountry trip, the cost makes sense.

But the price still offends me. For a rainy day hunt, I’ve used a piece of Saran wrap to fill that same role.

I’m not spending $150 to protect a $350 scope. The price they charge goes well past what I would spend on a set of covers. And that’s true of a lot of nice gear around here.

Pretty cheap compared to other options.

Aadmounts were $110 from Maven.

Tenebraex were $138.

Edit: oh wait, is that for two sets or for an ocular and objective as the two items? Yeah nevermind, misunderstood.

They aren’t scope protectors despite what they say- they’re rain/debris covers. Same as any other cover…. Except these actually work, don’t suck, and don’t break left and right.

Thanks. I will keep that in mind when I think I have a need for them. Keeping your scope functional is a more important role than “protecting the scope from a bump.” I certainly don’t intend to waste money on inferior products.

My Butler creek covers on the Maven work great for under $30 total. I also have AAdmount and Tenebraex, all with other considerations but the price/value goes to Butler Creek for me.

I'm sure I could imagine a scenario in which a slightly different set of scope covers is the difference maker, but I just don't think 99% of normal guys are that dialed in.

I hope that they tell you to go pound sand when you ask about any of their customers.
Wow, wasn't trying to stir anything up here. Allow me to provide some more context to the conversation.

Form posted a while back he was testing new scope caps, but did not mention the vendor. This thread above was the first time I've seen the correlation.

I was on IG a couple weeks ago and saw an ad from Scope Bumper that looked similar to Forms pics here. and simply posed the question to them if those were the caps that Form was testing. They said "no" and had no idea what I was talking about. So I moved on and didn't purchase from them.

If it's a good quality product with successful testing I would be interested in it, that is all I was trying to confirm.

I’d be curious if they could be flipped off with one finger.

The aadland covers are not perfect but they are close. I can pop the caps with one finger from both hands at the same time and bee shooting quickly.

Looks like a nice product. Most of my hunting isn't too demanding on covers (not a lot of rain or falling snow) so often caps with shock cord while its on my pack work fine and no caps when I am actively hunting works. Places that deal with more active precipitation while hunting I'd absolutely be seeking a refined solution. That difference is where the value perspective comes in for folks imho.

Don’t all of them open with one finger?

Every one I have does. My only "complaint" would be that some like the Aadmount snap open with a little too much noise potentially, but that can be mitigated easily.

I'm just curious what shortcomings these new Gucci caps address?

I’ve always opened/closed mine on as needed basis in the woods and never considered the noise.
I guess the “pop” could pose an issue at close range.

They look like they’d address an issue I have with hinged flip up caps, if opened and I lay my rifle on its side over my pack, any contact with the opened cap stresses or breaks the hinge. Non-issue with these it looks like…
