School me on UL tent options

I’ve spent a lot time in a six moons designs lunar solo. It’s worth a look IMO

My personal opinion, but I would consider this a great option only if you are UNDER 5'10" or 5'11". I'm 6'1" or a little taller and the lack of vertical walls is a no go for me. Other than that, sweet tent.

If you want to go a little heavier (just under 3 lbs) the Scarp 1 is a real roomy 1p tent and has a great weather rating. I can sit upright inside and the 12-14" vertical walls at each end make it way more liveable than almost any other tent at that weight. It also has 2 doors which is awesome to use one as a vestibule and one as an entrance instead of stumbling over your shit every time you come in and out. You can also set it up as a true freestanding tent with the extra poles from TT and be under 4 lbs. You can also just bring the fly and be around 25-28oz, lots of options there. The given weight is with the aluminum pole, which I think is needed to deserve a 4-season rating. Carbon poles are not 4-season, IMO

I think the TT Moment DW would be a real good option at your 2lb weight (ish) but it's a decent amount smaller than the Scarp 1.

I had a Notch Li last fall, great for weight but not for livability even in nice weather. It's basically a high quality trekking pole coffin and that didn't work for me at all.
I used a Notch Li in Alaska in the Chugach. We got some high winds (forecasts were calling for 40-60 mph gusts, I have no idea what they actually were) and the little tent held up. Tho, I felt like it may tear apart at any point. This guy is right, there is basically no livable space, it's like laying in a coffin. When you are weathered in for an entire day that sucks.

Yea anything approaching 3lbs and I'll stick with the Niak. I have zero complaints with it except weight for some real early season hunts. I’ll take a look at the Moment.

I'm 6'2" and I jam myself into a TT Aeon when it's buggy. It's not spacious by any means but the fact that it's 19 oz keeps me coming back. If it was a longer trip or I was concerned about a lot of wx days stuck in the tent, I'd probably pick something else. If it's later in the season and I'm not worried about bugs, I go with my MLD Duomid XL which is only a little heavier and a heck of a lot roomier.

Gossamer Gear the One or Two are pretty sweet for the price and weight. $320 and 23.5 oz for the Two.
