The way I read it is that all the packs (icon pro) used the same frame and suspension. So if I bought the 1800 I could also purchase a larger bag (3500ish range) and it will fit the frame as well correct??

I guess I'm thinking you could throw your 1800 bag in your big bag and once you get packed in take your big bag off and throw on your small bag for a day pack. Is this correct??

Thanks

Colton

That's correct, totally modular pack system. Kuiu only makes one frame and it works with all the icon pro series bags.

you are correct, the bags are interchangeable on the same frame. I purchased the Icon Pro frame/suspension (because I like the belt and shoulder straps better than the Ultra) and then purchased an Ultra 6000 bag and an Ultra 1800 bag. I use the 6000 for packing in my camp and gear, then swap out to the 1800 bag that I had folded up with the rest of my gear. It took me a few times to become proficient at swapping out bags but I can do it now in about 3-4 minutes.

Yes.

Although if you're shopping the used market I'm not sure if the Icon and Ultra system are interchangeable. Maybe someone else can weigh in on this.

But I bought an Icon 1850 bag/frame last year and an Ultra 6000 bag this year and the Ultra will fit on the Icon's frame.

Awesome thanks guys! Is that what guys are doing swapping bags? Or are you using your big bag as a day pack as well??? I'm coming from a badlands 4500 and it weighs about as much as an elk 1/4 empty lol

Yep all frames and bags are interchangeable.
Even ultra onto icon and vis versa.

Not much point in the small bags to be honest. Big ones are so light and compress easy you don't need a small one

This...I don't understand the bag swapping concept, especially if you only want 3500. If you want 3500 get the 3500 and use it for your "small" bag as well.

I have to use an 1850 bag to keep me from carrying 50 lbs worth of gear up the mountain!

I bought the 7200 and wont get a smaller bag as even the 7200 compresses down. I also likely wont be using the between pack and bag feature very often as the 72oo is big enough to pop meat inside the bag, and still carry a lot of stuff. Love the lashing system.

Here's another vote for 7200 icon pro, it just kicks butt. Used an ultra bag to swap out once camp was set. That way you can leave gear stored and organized in big bag, meanwhile you cruise lightweight with the 3000 ultra. Used the load sling to pack out meat flawlessly. No worries, love that setup.
