I inquired about a Bino harness for sale in the classifieds and sent a pm. Shortly after my pm I was sent a TEXT message. Here it is…
“Hey there, I'm texting about my Small Enclosed Marsupial Bino Harness from rokslide. What’s your shipping address? I take Venmo FF”.
A while after that I got a pm from the original poster (who definitely has nothing to do with this scam) addressing my pm inquiry. I asked him if he had sent me a text and he confirmed that he did not. ( didn’t think so, how could he have my phone number?) So somehow a scammer acquired my phone number to text me and knew about my ad inquiry. My son who is a tech guy thinks the forum may have had a data breach. I don’t know anything about this kind of stuff, but not sure how else they could have gotten my info to contact me by text? At any rate it’s a very clever scam. Be cautious.
