WTS SCAMMER Alert! - Yecos66 is a SCAMMER

Pretty sure that Yecos66 who says his name is Deja Gary and uses the phone number 906-442-2434 is a scammer.

I posted a WTB ad last night for a Mountain Tactical bottom metal. This morning I have a PM from Yecos66 saying to text him, and that he has one in the garage to sell. We text, and pretty immediately my spidey sense starts tingling. He offers to sell it for $100/shipped and send it via “UPS or FedEx post”. I’ve run into a couple of scammers on other forums recently and I start thinking we have one here.

I ask a couple of times for pics and he finally sends over a pic that is clearly not a Mountain Tactical bottom metal. I ask him about it and he says it is. So then I go searching… It’s a PR Precision bottom metal and the pic he sent is from PR Precisions’ instagram page. Screenshots below.

Be careful out there friends.

I've said it ad nauseum, but my .02 is that the first question on a response to a WTB ad is: what is your phone number so we can do a video call with you (seller) holding the item? I suspect that will not get a credible response most of the time.

Not saying it’s anybody’s fault but man y’all gotta know at this point that a WTB posting is basically an invite to get scammed.

My $0.02 - it’s great to alert the members to some extent (member name, phone number, email) but it can be counterproductive to tell the particular scammer, and the broader community, exactly how you figured out the scam. Doing so helps them improve.

I live in the 906 and that 442 isn’t a prefix for any regular or cell phone in this area.

Yup, 906 is da U.P., and if memory serves, 442 is a Chippewa County land line, or at least used to be a few years back. I'm pretty sure it's never been a cell prefix.

NO - for me that's the first tip some sleaze bag is trying to rip you off. The other thing is ask the bas###d to P.M. you a picture with him holding the for-sale item. Especially if a situation like you posted the companies pic. of the bottom metal.

I use zelle. Many banks use it and connect it to your account. I know navy fed and USAA use it.
