You believe wrong
How so? I've owned 2, including one that looked exactly like yours, sans threading.

The website now shows a new stainless model...Sauer 100 Stainless XTA. It has an adjustable cheek riser. A quick Google check...I didn't see it available here and most articles on this model are from outside the US.

Sorry to bring back a zombie thread but heads up, you'll be hard pressed to find anyone to rebarrel a Sauer 100. So if you get one as a hunting rifle pick a high round count cartridge like 308 Win.
The Mauser M18 and the Sauer100 are the same rifle with a couple of cosmetic changes
Here is a detailed look at the barrel freshly pulled

They are NOT STAINLESS STEEL. Per Bud's website:
"Sauer S1SX708 100 Silver XT Bolt 7mm-08 Remington 22" 5+1 Synthetic Black Stk Stainless Cerakote"

The description states "Stainless Cerakote". I believe the "Silver" model is synonymous with "Ceratech". I think Sauer USA once listed this gun as a separate model on their website, but no longer.

Yeah I figured that out with the part numbers. Confusing

Some people would argue about anything 😂

OP. If I were you, I’d just buy a tikka and rock on with it… Sauers have little to no aftermarket support and are much more “unknown” for general quality/longevity from action to trigger to barrel. They may be the “best” out there, but sample size is so low on heavy use that it borders on irrelevant data.

Tikkas are very well known, with very large data, and take advantage of the current best overall QC process for a “mass produced” bolt action rifle. This is from action/chambering, to barrel construction, to barrel stress relieving process, guns shot in over pressure chambers, shot for function/accuracy. Etc. before ever leaving Finland.

Folks who buy the following, and set them up properly, have had more big game success than any other combination I’ve seen…

.Tikka in 223, 243, or 6.5 CM ensure 8 twist barrel.

.Rokstok. It’s worth it in all facets. I hate shooting guns that don’t have rokstoks now.

.SWFA Fixed 6 with MIL Quad Reticle.

.UM Tikka Rings.

It’s the point and shoot, no frills, no fuss, big game killing machine.

Since we're talking about it, I took the barrel off mine to find out.

It appears to be 28mmx1.00 metric. simple flat face breech to action interface w/recessed bolt.

This barrel was MAYBE 75 lbs to break loose. I set up for a fight and as soon as I began to lean on it, it popped and spun right off. Pic is as it came off. Maybe a dab of thread locker but zero galling.

If anyone wants to do a Sauer build, I'm your huckleberry!

Boy howdy you’ll have that market cornered in no time!

In all seriousness, what is the quality of the wood stock?
Also, how does the polymer stock compare to a tikka, Ruger American, Franchi etc?

Paging @xsn10s ... welfare check. Are you okay?

Just breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out ...

It’s good. The Europeans do not build cheap junk.

Better than all. It’s the best designed factory polymer stock on the market. Vertical’ish grip, high buttpad, negative comb.
