I suspect that if Sako decided to offer their entire 90-series offerings as barreled actions, they would inflict some serious hurt on the 700 clone market.
I have a deposit on one of your first Grizzlies when they show up.1-8 & 1-12
Yes, It applies to the Tikka's as well - Im getting in some 9.3x62 tikkas and other fun stuff soon
Grizzlies should be showing up soonish, Im getting stainless hunters in the doors now, got quest ultra's a couple weeks ago
Aside from my 9.3x62, I don't think we have sold one of them yet
Pm me if your interested, Happy to help!
Thanks
Jake
The new threaded barrels are 20” instead of 22”. So, waiting for a takeoff barrel won’t save you velocity. You should only lose 50-100 FPS at most from a 2” chop. And you gain the advantage of suppression. My 16” AR is sending AAC 77-grain OTMs at 2692 FPS. I expect to get about the same performance out of a bolt gun.

I knew this question would come.. lol
Were trying to get bare actions for you guys, In the meantime the cheapest XS rifles are gonna be the Varmints in 223 & 222
Sako used to sell actions, they can do it again!!! I’d be in for atleast two
We would certainly underwrite the mini action mold and possibly the short.Stocks would be the roadblock. There just aren't many (any?) options out there. There would need to be a large demand to justify a stock maker making a mold for a new stock. I doubt there would be enough demand. The multiple action sizes adds to the problem since it's not just one size like Tikka or 2 sizes like a 700...I think there are 5 action sizes in the 90.
I'm not arguing against them selling actions. I'd love to build off one, but unless someone is wanting a custom wood stock it would be tough to find a stock for them.
Oregunsmithing will inlet for pretty much anything (I know he's done Sako 85s and Kimbers previously), and their LR Hunter is a very nice stock. Other than a bit of heel drop, it's darn close to perfect IME.Stocks would be the roadblock. There just aren't many (any?) options out there.
Have not gotten a Grizzly into the states yet, they are incoming though.Does anyone have experience with the Sako 90 Quest? The stock design looks quite ergonomic to me. I think it would weigh around 9.5# with an SWFA 6x gen2, good mounts, and a Raptor 8 w/ 3" reflex in .375. That could be just about perfect.
@EuroOptic , the Grizzly you have seems really lovely. Have you shot it yet? Any idea whether you could get a Sako 90 Quest in 9.3x62 and how much damage it would be to my wallet? Same for the Hunter Stainless (I'd have to get it cut and threaded).

I've finally sold my old Husqvarna 9.3x62 and, while I cannot really justify a "need" for it, I want a 9.3x62. I've been considering everything from getting a Tikka T3x long action and rebarreling it to finding an off the shelf version (Mauser, Sako, Sauer, etc.) to having one of my two Mauser action .22-250s rebored by JES. I think my ideal solution would be to find a very basic factory 9.3x62, no sights, 18-20" threaded barrel, a hideous plastic stock I could basically throw away (like a T3X or Sauer 100), and then put it in a wooden Rokstok.
@EuroOptic has Sako made any statement about selling you guys just the action/bdm/mag? I’d be willing to sell off most of my rifles and build all new ones if I could get just the actionsHave not gotten a Grizzly into the states yet, they are incoming though.
The Quest is superb, in every way.
Factory Tikka 9.3x62's are coming as well, couple models.
I'll PM you pricing on the two sakos and the Tikka
Jake
You aren’t the only one. I asked this very question of Euro 8months ago and they took the time to double-check before letting me know it was a no-go. AccuFlite Arms also said they didn’t think they’d get any bare 90’s… but no doubt EuroOptic would have a lot more sway and market share!@EuroOptic has Sako made any statement about selling you guys just the action/bdm/mag?
