Sako 90 Peak .223 - " Sako Select Program "

I suspect that if Sako decided to offer their entire 90-series offerings as barreled actions, they would inflict some serious hurt on the 700 clone market.

I suspect that if Sako decided to offer their entire 90-series offerings as barreled actions, they would inflict some serious hurt on the 700 clone market.

Except for the fact that there are little to no aftermarket stock options for them. The 700 clone market is so successful because there's countless stock/trigger/bottom metal/whatever you want to add options for it.

Does anyone make an aftermarket stock for the 90 series? If a company did add one, how many of versions of the 90 action lengths will they inlet for?

I've only got one Sako 90, but I'm a fan. I wish they would make barreled actions available, but without options for stocks I would be hard pressed to purchase one.

With Sako scaled actions and mags around standard oals and being the price etc. can’t see them attacking the NA market of reloaders and super long bullets who like to play musical chairs with rifle parts. Part of appeal to me is the efficiency in scaling to off the shelf spec. Leave the more affordable modular market alone. Not just a bolt stop swap and different cheap magazine.

They hopefully realize which nations/continents burn the most powder? Offering higher cap magazines likely an easy way to pick up more sales over here though, and fer cryin out loud get the modern chamberings within a couple years of release!

Those double stack mags hold lots for how little space they take up and sure feed awesome. Not much investment there to make a bunch more stickers peck out over here, just build some mags. That’s it, how hard would it be to be more timely on chamberings and higher cap mag options???

1-8 & 1-12

Yes, It applies to the Tikka's as well - Im getting in some 9.3x62 tikkas and other fun stuff soon

Grizzlies should be showing up soonish, Im getting stainless hunters in the doors now, got quest ultra's a couple weeks ago
Aside from my 9.3x62, I don't think we have sold one of them yet
Pm me if your interested, Happy to help!

Thanks
Jake
I have a deposit on one of your first Grizzlies when they show up. :)

The new threaded barrels are 20” instead of 22”. So, waiting for a takeoff barrel won’t save you velocity. You should only lose 50-100 FPS at most from a 2” chop. And you gain the advantage of suppression. My 16” AR is sending AAC 77-grain OTMs at 2692 FPS. I expect to get about the same performance out of a bolt gun.

I hate the enablers on this site. Now I am looking for someone to cut thread my barrel.

@EuroOptic can you do some stock comparisons between models when they all in house? Specifically grip and butt stock geometry?

Peak vs grizzly, confirm adventure same as peak, does finnlight follow the peak higher negative comb like adventure appears to? Grizzly looks better than say Tikka and they do say straight comb but comment on the more traditional open grip vs the more vertical modern design of the peak?

Hadn’t seen the grizzly till this thread interest looked over. Found interesting when they mention straight comb and recoil management on their website so looks like they have come part way from Tikka lower and positive geo to the peak while keeping a classic look and grip for stepping stone guys or those liking more classic?

Can’t recall them mentioning anything about the gunwerks design cues in the peak etc but do recall Aaron mentioning they will all copy that in time. Fun to watch. But are all looking those angles etc over on the pics and aware which ones most the geometry they are after?

Having a stock Tikka nearby at same time really help others see the differences as nearly everyone familiar with the Tikka geo’s.

Cleaning rod up action from rear into barrel is helpful to see stock lines in relation to bore.

well spoke too soon, Alberta has changed regs and we can now hunt with .223 cal cartridges, I'll be danged, enjoyed the grendel for past 7 plus seasons in meantime...not going to change now but great news for Alberta hunters who chase peak performances and efficiencies in gun game, I'm gonna Fudd out my days with grendel and 308 123/168's, slower and fatter just like I keep going
