SAC bushing in Redding die making decap pin too short

Not sure if I’m just not setting it up right. I have a SAC bushing in my Redding Type S FL sizing die.

When I set it up, the decapping pin only sticks out slightly from the body of the die and does not push spent primers out during the sizing process.

Any idea what’s going on? I’ve read these are supposed to be compatible with Redding.

I just measured my Redding bushings - they are .500 OD and .375 high. I think this is identical in size to what SAC bushings are.

I suspect you will figure it out by rechecking your die setup and, if necessary, rereading the paper instructions supplied with your dies. Good luck.

Toss the decapper/button in the trash and go to bushing/mandrels is my best advice, though just threading your decapping rod deeper will fix your problem...

Do you use mandrels instead?
Yes. I use a Forster FL die (no decapping/sizing button rod), and then follow-up with a mandrel in a Sinclair stainless mandrel die in a separate step. 21st Century Innovation sells every size of mandrel, but 0.002 under bullet diameter should do it. I may switch over to a Cortina Precision mandrel die because it fits tight around the base of the case for better concentricity and reducing clickers after many reloads. If oversizing the neck bothers you, Forster will custom hone the necks of their FL dies.
