RSI Smart Cap

Probably none are perfect. My last two ARE with side liftout windows, that were also sliders are nice. You can unlock it from the inside as well. For dogs in kennels I like a lighter colored topper with windows that can ventilate a lot. The ARE provides that well. I need one for my Ford but keep watching for the right one used.

Any not being able to "escape" is kinda schitty. With the latches....could a Rando walk by and simply turn your latch Closed and lock you inside?
Yup. If someone were to close the latches from the outside while I was inside I'd be locked in. That's not a big concern for me the places I camp. When I bought mine they made it sound like the new latches you could open from the inside were coming out any day. Here we are a year later and they have't released any updates. I will say I like it a lot better than the Leer I had on my last truck, and the stowaway table is the cat's ass.

Someone sells an electric lock upgrade. I don't remember their exact price, but I do remember that I would of had to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it.

How long does it take to install it yourself if you just order from Smartcap and have it delivered to your home?

1/2 day? Full Day? Is a partner mandatory or if you have room to hoist stuff and/or or a FEL loader can you do it yourself?

Are there any special bits or tools you need to order ahead of install day?

I’ve installed 2 now. First time assembled by myself and it took about 3 hrs and another hour with another guy to place on the truck. We could have used another guy.

The second time I assembled my self and used a forklift and that was easier and took about 2-3hrs.

Thank you very much, just needed to budget the right kind of day a week ahead to get it done.

I'm going to look thru the instruction manual prior to see if any special hardware, special drill bits or drivers are needed, etc.

No problem, nothing too special needed. Get some super glue and glue the weather strip down as you’re adhering it to the cap.

I saw Loctite is critical too. I'll probably take a couple minutes to degrease everything with acetone too.
