Knight Percussion cap kit source?

Does anyone know where to find a Western kit for percussion caps? I have a mountaineer that came with FPJ (RPJ?) setup, and I purchased a bare primer kit. I’m in WA where 209s are legal but I’d like to have a Percussion cap bolt/plug (P/N: M900626) if and when I head over to Idaho. They’re out of stock on Knights website and I can’t seem to find them from any other vendor. I’m concerned I may have missed the boat and they may no longer be supported or manufactured. Maybe I’m missing something obvious. Any help appreciated!
 
I bought a DISC Extreme Western model and then purchased the bare primer conversion kit. They had the Western conversion kits in stock at the time….May want to call them and ask when they will re-stock. They will continue to support the DISC Extreme. Their new models have the Western ignition option.
 
Don't worry it is available. I bought a replacement last year. If I don't post the source by next week....shoot me a pm. I'm on a plane right now.

Knight wants $275 + tax, shipping for the Western conversion kit! OUCH! A brand new Northwest Wolf can be had for that price or a used Optima.

They sure are proud of them. I got lucky and scooped the bare primer kit from Sportsman’s warehouse for $60. I think it had been on the shelf since I worked there in 2019 and was HEAVILY marked down.
 
I got a notification in my email for a reply from @lazydrifter but for whatever reason it’s gone from the thread:

“The RPJ bolt and the western bolt are the same except on the RPJ bolt face there is a lip that holds the RPJ centered and in place. I have a Disc extreme that I have all 3 ignition systems for it. I was comparing the bolts the other day and the FPJ and western are exactly the same except for that lip. I even put a western breech plug in the barrel and fired off a few #11 caps with the RPJ bolt. The lip on the front of the bolt makes it hard to put a cap on the nipple. But it would be very easy to remove that lip. Sportsmans still has some of the RPJ bolts in stock for 60.00. You would need to order the western breech plug with either the #11 nipple or the musket cap nipple from Knight.”

Is there any reason I would want to retain the RPJ bolt unmodified when I have the bare primer already? Sounds simple as knocking that lip down and getting a percussion cap breech plug. lazydrifter apologies if you deleted that for a reason and I dug it back up, seemed like useful information.

I can’t see why you can’t modify the bolt. But just be aware that in Idaho, the percussion cap needs to be exposed….

“Ignition System
Must be exposed. This is defined as an ignition system in which any portion of the cap is exposed when the weapon is cocked and ready to fire. Northwest inline models are allowed.”

I have the Knight DISC Extreme NW bolt and there is a port that exposes one side of the cap. I think the bolt face must be rather exact or you could end up with ignition problems or worse, not be up to Idaho requirements.
 
Sorry I deleted it. I got thinking that I would hate to have someone attempt to do this and to do it wrong. Really didn't want any blame on my shoulders. I really wouldn't feel uncomfortable doing this modification with a dremmel tool. If you need any pictures of the 2 bolts let me know.

I figured that might be the case. I’ve burned the boats and taken an angle grinder to my truck enough times, I think I can manage this. Will take a look at that bolt and probably order up a percussion cap breech plug. Thanks for the tip

Is there any specifics on what constitutes exposed? Even my bare primer kit has maybe a 1/16th opening between the bolt and what would be the ejection port on a CF. As a side tangent, I’m wondering if this indicates that I need to turn the bolt assy in or out one turn. I had to play with it a lot to get the bolt to close. The bolt handle seems to sit slightly forward of where I would imagine it should be, but one turn out and it’s too far back. Had to knock an inside corner off the bolt handle inlet in the stock, but that could also be attributed to loose tolerances on a cheap stock. I’ve shot it, everything functions fine, It’s just never closed or opened as smoothly as I feel a rifle at that price point should. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue.

Apologies if none of that makes a lick of sense.
 
Knock that lip off and it will be exposed and legal. My bolt on my disc extreme isn't super smooth either. I have a Williams target peep if you by any chance need one. The adjustments are click and finger adjustable. And a few front globe sights with the Lee Shaver inserts. Went to scopes on my 2 knights this year.
