Looks like RRS is dropping what i would consider the ideal shooting tripod. Anybody have any details/specs ?

Any guesses on pricing? My guess is 2k with the head.
The new Leofoto under 1k with head.
Will wait for a side by side before ordering.

Definitely will be less than 2k. I called and asked some questions, their customer service is top notch. I'll be the test dummy since the tfct33 I just got is within the return window.

Very very similar specs to the fat boy tripod I just sold but almost 3 pounds lighter

Nice. 3 lbs is significant. I like my Fatboy, but a RRS inverted 3 section might be too good to pass up.

My thoughts exactly. I loved the fat boy but it was a bit much to hump around

I'm fortunate that I was within my return window on the tfct 33 I just bought, and that I was able to snag the new versa43i before they almost immediately sold out. I'll update this thread as I use the tripod

Same twist locks we're accustomed to

I'm unfamiliar with that feature, I don't believe so. Their site doesn't mention it

Was able to take some photos of the invert 43i next to the tfct 33 before I boxed it up to return. Weight is 5.4 pounds. Quality is exactly what I'd expect. Only negative I could find is the twist locks are backwards but I dont think I'll really mind.

Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't all inverted twist locks "bacwards". You've basically turned the nut and the screw upside down. Unless they had new twist locks specially made with left hand threads, they're always going to seem backwards.

Probably. Although I previously had a fat boy elevate that was righty tighty
