RosinBag - Completely understand the rollercoaster of emotions from your day. I have shared many camps with hunters in the same situation (including me). Would love to be there to help finish out the hunt, including looking for that buck to provide closure. Again, good luck.

If the deer is going down he is going down slow. He will burrow into the thickest hideout he knows and die and the only way to find him is when the buzzards get on him. It's a waste of time to even worry about it a minute. It may be a wasted deer to some people but not to all the other animals who will feast on him. The coyote's will thank the heavens for the dinner.

I have the solid on underneath. I actually hate that shirt as it stinks when it gets sweaty as a base layer. Does fine as a second shirt though.

Wrapping up today's adventure. Heading back out to same general area tomorrow. Historically always deer and bucks in the area.

Like Travis, I am feeling lucky for tomorrow. But then again I feel that way everyday. At least I am not working...

Keep at it Doug, no arm chair hunters can fix the problem or properly access it without being there. If you feel it wasnt lethal than Im beating your probably spot on. The reason I never finished my North Dakota live hunt updates is because I lethaly wounded about a 140" whitetail and didnt was to here from the peanut gallery, when as experienced hunters we know what the rite things to do are and when to call it quits... The buck I shot I knew I got at least one lung and the pretty massive blood trail proved that, after about 1/4mile the blood stopped and the trail went cold. My deer was killed 1 and 1/2 weeks later in some timber sick with my arrow still in it, by a rifle hunter. They are tough animals and can live threw a lot! Heres a pic of my bloodtrail, sorry didnt mean to highjack your thread as its great and cant wait to see a pic or you and a big old knarly Rutted up Swollen neck Monster Muley on the ground! Goodluck >--->

It is a fact, if you Bowhunter your day will come when you don't recover a hit animal.

Very true! I shot my colorado buck out of his bed this year and alls I have to show for it is an arrow that is 8" shorter with blood on it. Made me sick!!It was only a 30 yard shot off a cliff. I play it in my mind day after day still

This morning was brutal with the tornado type winds. I saw two groups of does in four hours, no bucks.

Heading to a grassing spot for rest of the day.
