Here is a picatinny folding mechanism from Samson mfg.

The way I see it, you
1. lay out the stock, and decide where you want to make the cut. Looks like manners decided right before the pistol grip was their spot
2. Epoxy a 1913 rail with anchor screws into the forward section
3. Epoxy a female-threaded insert into the rear section.
4. Attach the Samson folding mechanism at the picatinny forward section. Then bolt the butt stock section to the rear folding mechanism with a cross bolt.

I’ve thought about this same idea. It would definitely add some length and my fear would be it would increase trigger reach, which was part of the reason the Rokstock was built in the first place. I was trying to figure out a way to recess it in the stock to not interfere with that. That’s why the manners design is ideal.

Set up another one today with a bit longer LOP and medium rings. Not sure I have any preference between 14 and 14.25 for LOP will have to get some real shooting time in but short version is that it does not seem to matter. But I did not like the medium rings and swapped them back to lows. Mediums would have been useable but with lows I am just right in the eye box.

No, it will not. Currently there is no Rokstok for the Howa Mini Action. They have stated the Rokstok Lite will be available for the Howa Mini Action. You may be able to get a Wooden Rokstok Lite built for the Howa Mini Action but they are expensive.

RokStock lite on a how mini 1500 in 6 ARC with a 16" barrel... sounds amazing. Time to start digging for info on that rifle!

Are you guys seeing the 120 days lead time being pretty accurate?

My last one took 78 days to complete. Granted it's a R700 and not a Tikka so less demand means quicker turnaround. It seems they are not as backlogged and have removed the "inventory remaining" and are just keeping the orders open.

1. Is it ok to get a proof contour stock if my rifle has a D18 (heavy fluted) contour? Will the gap be too big or is that ok? I may swap a carbon fiber barrel in the future.
2. What do people usually prefer for sling mounting? A qd on the rear/side or just a normal sling stud? It looks like the arca rail on the front has a qd socket already?
3. If I have no bipods at this point should I get the arca/pic combo or just pick one? Which is best?

1. Yes, under almost all circumstances you should go ahead and order the sendero barrel channel.

2. I don't usually bother with a sling. I either carry in hand or attached to my pack with SG rifle carrier. I've also found that the qd on one of my stocks is installed in a way that prevents a sling from engaging properly. Hasn't been a problem for me so I never bothered to contact UM about it.

3. My advice would be to decide what sort of bipod you'd like to purchase and go from there. Personally, I wouldn't plan on using a rail that far forward for tripod mounting, so it's really just whatever you want to attach.

I would get the proof contour no matter what profile you have unless you really care about the aesthetics. You really can't have too much gap from a functional standpoint (more dead cats the better).

Imo qd is the best way to mount a sling. I didn't get flush cups on mine and I regret it. I think if you order with a rail it comes with both cups already installed but I'm not 100% on that.

Pic should cover almost every bipod out there so I'd just get that unless you want to shoot off of a tripod at the end of the stock

They removed the inventory cap as I believe the backlog has been alleviated. So it's open for orders until they get overwhelmed again and close it down.

My barrels are all sporters and I have the proof contours. 2 of my 4 I bought used with narrower contours so I found a socket that fits inside the proof, wrapped it in sand paper, and opened them up as well. There is no down side to having a big gap.

Only reason I would not get the largest available is if ordering a wood rokstock lite and also wanting a front rail.

I cant imagine ever hunting with a bipod, adding that clutter up front just seems incredibly annoying. There are a hand full of situations where I shoot or hunt off of a tripod. I have a trinity rail on 3 of my rokstoks and it works well for that. I prefer to clip to Pic on my RRS/Anvil and can only clip to arca on my aziak. If I had a dedicated preferred system I would get one or the other but for occasionally clipping to different things this works fine.

As I swap my smaller guns over to the lite I am not worrying about a rail. Its nice to have a gun with a rail but dont need it on all of them.

QD studs are fine, kind of ackward placement honestly but I am largely moving over to carrying in the exo quick release vs sling anyway.

If hunting with a sling was really important to me I might get the stud, though it messes up that nice flat bottom.... I would have to really care about sling carry a lot to do that.

2. I like having the QD side mounting option. I have also used a regular mounting stud in the Trinity or Spartan Picatinny rail and a strap/harness mount for the rear, as shown here:

This is the Spartan picatinny rail. I traded my Trinity rail for it. I prefer it because it has more useable picatinny rail and more space for the Spartan.

3. I no longer use permanently mounted bipods. I use a Spartan option.

As I have said and shown elsewhere, I don’t like the current Trinity rail. It doesn’t have enough Picatinny length for many common mounts. The QD cup is too close to the Spartan portion.

On any subsequent RokStok I order, I will get the Spartan picatinny rail.
