Haven’t gotten around to ordering a Rokstock yet, but can’t imagine not bedding it. Same with any other aftermarket stock. If needed due to milling depth, I’d plan on drilling for pillars. That’s just how this stuff works.

I have two Rokstoks, from two different production batches, and neither one has required any additional work to mount the action or BM.

I have three McMillans and two Bell and Carlsons, and all five of those stocks needed some work and bedding. For me, expecting any stock to be "true drop in" is about as dumb as a factory rifle with a sub-moa guarantee; you might get lucky but c'mon. Granted those weren't Tikka actions.

If they ever make a rokstock for the Ruger M77 then I'm sending that straight to the gunsmith. There's not a chance in hell it will fit and even less of a chance that I could fix it.

I think if you order one you should assume the goal posts to move a few times while you are waiting on it.

I don't think you should expect any Remington footprint action to drop in. Even a factory Remington can't keep scope mounting holes aligned. I would have expected an action that you can order a pre-fit barrel for to be uniform enough to be able to drop them in a stock.

I don't know how the one I got fit. By the time I finally got it I was so frustrated I got rid of it. I hated even looking at it, so unfortunately never even tried it.

But that's probably a me problem, I'm a cranky older bastard.

Just came back from the range with the new Rokstok. Shoots as tight as before, left to right was dead on but had to adjust the elevation 1 moa down.

Ear muffs ear pros are now in the way, going to have to figure out something. Medium Sportsmatch rings "might" be a bit low which causes me to squish my face down a bit to see through the scope properly (probably doesn't help with the ear pros being in the way). I have some high Sportsmatch with a Nightforce SHV on my .35 Whelen Tikka. I'll plop that action in the Rokstok in the off season to see if thats a better fit.

I have the same issue. I just wear regular foam earplugs when I’m shooting with a Rokstok. Easy fix

It is until you’re at a range with other shooters.

I have the same problem, and it’s meant I’m even more selective about who I’ll shoot with. Basically, everyone has to use a suppressor to shoot with me (or not be on the line at the same time so I can double up when not shooting)

I hear you. But @Stockys does kind of “extra suck” though when it comes to overall fit/finish and inletting/fitment if I’m being fully transparent between all the aftermarket stocks I’ve used.

I had issues with the VGs going way back. My first two Rokstoks were spot on. All of the Rokstoks since thej, other than the wood stock, has had inletting issues that I just work around.

You’re not wrong. I’ve put stockys on several mini’s too. I always have to sand dremel etc then bed. But….im also changing triggers and BM on those. Like I e said I just expect to have to tweak a aftermarket stock especially a stocky that’s much less than a McMillan or manners. I also mentioned manners while being probably the best stock I own was the worst fit. Just part of upgrading.

I also agree a stocky is not the same level as a McMillan or manners. It’s just not. They are louder and more hollow sounding. They are the best stock for the price in some applications. This is not a gripe at all. Just calling a spade a spade. My favorite stock is the manners LRH but it was $1,000 and the inletting and bedding was above my pay grade so it was another $150 to have a gunsmith bed it. I think a lot of people would be happier if they did that and accept it as part of restocking. The McMillan Hunter/Sako Hunter is still my favorite sporter stock. I admit most of mine were bought when they were still 5-600. Prices have changed a lot in the last 10 years.

The finish or slickness is funny though on a cheaper and still stiff composite stock. Make it grippy and roll on if you want. I think a lot of guys are expecting too much from a light stiff 5-600 stock in this market.

Bottom line I applaud UM for trying and I’m sure stocky was the only move for them. It’s a very very serviceable stock. I just think too many are expecting it to be a stock that’s McMillan quality and going to drop in like Karl Feldkamp fit it. Not going to happen for this price point.

I bought a pair of ear buds from Axil. Amplifies voice type sounds and clamps the boom.

How do you like them ? Are you shooting suppressed or bare muzzle?

I do like them. They are not overly expensive and do the job. I've worn them bow hunting last month and at the range. I am shooting with a brake while at the range. Will be wearing them during rifle season as well.

Picked up a fast twist 243 during the recent tikka sale and finally got it all assembled. Loving the 16.5” barrel + US OG. Points and handles like a much smaller rifle. Makes me hate my 20” 223 with a conventional suppressor (Harvester Evo). That barrel will be getting cut down to 16” after hunting season…

That looks great! Im liking the 16" barrels too. My favorite rifle is my 16" tikka 223 in a rokstok. I have a 6" in front of the barrel supressor on it now, but just sent payment yesterday for an OG 6.5. It'll be perfect on there.

Anyone know if Savage Rokstock got dropped? I was holding out for one but haven’t seen them in the dropdown list on the UM website for quite awhile.
At one point I had emailed with Jake and he sent me to Stockys to confirm fit because I have a bottom bolt release short action.

What kind of velocities are you seeing with the 16.5” barrel?

Has anyone tested the factory tikka stock against a Rokstok when shooting extreme prone (think +-45 degrees) angles?

I shot a Rokstok at the S2H class for a few days but don’t recall shooting extreme prone angles. My factory stock seems to want to slide out the bottom of my shoulder pocket and results in high misses at distance if I’m not careful
