sounds awesome,

what's everyone's thoughts on those stocky's recoil pads? if the qc move brings things in line with tikka quality match and can be more like an $800 dollar product like alterra etc. that recoil pad gotta go, it's way too budget and came on same shipping container with rest of toy's'r'us products, and would anyone really mind if cost went up if the qc and everything else moved up a level closer to other stock manufacturer levels? I know I'd pay more for that next level up, the tikka deserves it

on the wood, red rubber (aka ruger/sako) is the answer there, total blasphemy with the stocky's pad on that lumber, the classy lumber needs some class on the ass

Sounds like they are making them easier to change with threaded inserts. I say form follows function, and meeting a price point is part of function. I think there’s plenty of 1k$ options on the market.

yeah I hear ya, but they got the design and I really wanna try it but I've moved past the days of done right the 3rd time etc. so it's great to have 'get in the game' price point but there will be market for another level or two above that, which is where I need to shop now as I know I'll be left wanting

I wouldn't want to pay any more just for it to look at little more pretty. That's the point of this thing. Function is king. My next one will be a single color to keep it cheap because I don't give a hoot about what it looks like, it's gonna have scratches and dings anyway.

KRG recoil pad upside down adds length and raises it in one shot if you don't mind it looking a little worse. Same screw holes, just don't crank them too tight so you don't strip the carbon. Could glue it on too for extra hold, but I didn't and it's been on there since June just fine

Edit: 13 3/4 lop this way

Same

Maybe I’m odd but I like things to look good as well as function

The looks good thing has been out the window since go. [Edit to add: i can understand why someone wouldn't want a carbon stock where the laminate looks like it might start degrading for sure or serious cosmetic flaws. A couple little air bubbles here and there, meh]

I do think i'd like a little more aesthetically pleasing pad if I splurged nearly $2k on a wood one though.

I think a ground to fit pad will always look better, just most folks dont notice and it adds $. Allterra uses cervalletti foam recoil pads glued onto the stock and ground to fit, at least thats what mine is. You can buy the same pads in several thicknesses, they’re about $30, and they are by far the lightest weight pads available if thats important to you, they just have to be ground to fit. A grind to fit decelerator or kick-eeze is another good option. Any smith can grind to fit if you dont want to do it yourself, and Im certain UM or the guy who is doing the wood stocks for these can also install a classy, well fitted pad of your choice. I dont care for the red pad look on wood stocks, but those are also available from a number of places if thats your speed. Most smiths charge $100 or less for the pad + install.

Be careful there. I was corrected earlier in this thread for making that comparison. 😁
It is what it is. I would be interested to hear how many unsellable stocks they received from Manners or McMillan, unsellable products from SRS, Hawkins, Nightforce.
Good on Unknown for taking care of their customers, but seems a little ridiculous at this point.

The QC thing is pretty disappointing but at least they were willing to make a stock from the ground up that nobody else has made. And at a pretty affordable price.

They are rough. ROUGH. I saw the last 7 I think, none of them could be sold. Functionally they seem fine, and I am shooting one now. But, there is no way they could be sold. How they ever got shipped is baffling. Jake is at the expo now, but he will be making a decision and plan for the people waiting.

If anyone gets a free green junker for 700 SA and doesn't like how the receiver and barrel fit in the inlet... Pls let me know with a PM if interested in selling.

[Edit to specify LOP not longer than 13.5”, barrel channel not wider than Lt Sendero.]
