I like highs but I think I have a short neck so I end up further back on the shark fin than many and I also like a more upright head and light cheek pressure. Also works for playing nice with muffs. I’m sure meds would be fine too.

In simple terms, the height of the ring you need depends on where your face is on the comb. High rings worked well for me with the scope mounted more rearward. Low rings work well for me with the scope mounted more forward. With the RS, it's not just a vertical consideration for the height, horizontal factor's in as well.

Is there a usual preferred um height for the rs1.2 with a rokstok?

Thinking about the leather pad too. From searching it seems like … mediums?
I’ve used medium and low. Prefer the lows for me… but it’s cutting it close on my 3B barrel with the Aadmount caps. The Tenebraex covers would not work for me… but likely would on a factory barrel

Got my 700 long action, I like it better than expected.
The action dropped right in, the bottom metal needed some very minor fitting. I also used a washer because the front action screw was a touch long.

First shots today went well. First impact was the low one and surely some mechanical stress. The next 5 were the group. I was also shooting pretty quick because it was getting dark.

I'll get better pictures of the relief needed for the Hawkins Hunter bottom metal, but I just have the one. Some relief needed on the front portion of the inlet near the front action screw and then of course for the magazine release adjustment.

Will check the ability to spot shots in the next couple days. I have an 8" pplate at 380 that I shoot all the time. I can't spot impacts on it currently, but I know exactly how far the plate swings back when I do get back on target so that will be a good comparison because I shoot that target a lot.

OFFICIAL ROKSTOK UPDATE!

@Ryan Avery @Formidilosus @Salmon River Solutions @Stockys

I am currently in Florida with the wonderful @Stockys crew dialing in some inlets and helping box up Rokstoks. Lots of them on their way to us right now.

All Green Rokstoks will be in customers hands by end of January. I built in a little time there, Jessica says all greens done here in production by end of year, 10 days travel time to UM, and then off to you Fedex 2 day express.

All open orders for REM 700 and Savage inlets will be filled in the same time frame.

Jessica and crew have been running our railed Tikka molds hard and there must be 100 here in the shop at various stages of completion. We hope to have all orders done very soon so we can re open orders. This is the most popular configuration of Rokstok so thank you for being patient with us.

Winchester Model 70 Rokstok mold will be ready to produce textured stocks around end of January.

SRS is running the all new, highly requested, trinity rails that should be done this weekend. Then off to Anodize for 4 weeks. I will get them up on the website in the meantime. This rail will bolt right in to the existing Spartan/ Pic rail position. without modification. If you did not get the Spartan rail originally you will need to drill a 3/4" hole to accommodate the rail but the screw holes should line up fine. You can send the stock back in to us to be converted if you don't want to deal with it. The new trinity rail will be standard on the Rokstok once orders re open early next year.

The Rokstok Lite is currently being prototyped by @Formidilosus and Mike Maxwell of Alpine Rifles, the official producer of the Wood Rokstok. Features include: featherlight, negative comb, shortened forend, possibly railed and non-railed versions, railed version will have arca molded in at DBM and small pic at forend position, same short trigger pull, Howa Mini, Tikka, REM 700 Short, and potentially Kimber 84 and Ruger 10/22. We plan to be producing these stocks prior to opening up any orders, realistically 2nd/3rd quarter for retail orders.

Invoice numbers that have just left Stockys and headed to UM, remember that it is 10 days travel time to get to UM: 177827, 178050, 178733, 182578, 182655, 182738, 183084, 183218, 184137, 184617, 184753, 185677, 186622, 187353, 187557, 187773, 188081, 188701 (4 stocks shipped), 181185 (3 stocks shipped), 193474, Casey Streepy, 194314, 194701, 194899, 195274, 195496, 195608, 193697, 193996, 195467.

There are 18 more railed Tikka's being cut as we speak. We will also get another batch of available rail-less Tikka Rokstoks up soon.

Thank you for all of your support of UM, S2H, SRS, and Stockys as we make this final push!!
I will be online to answer questions until 2PM EST 19DEC2024.

Sounds interesting, it'll be cool to see what comes of this version in due course.

Planning to texture the grip in the lite version? Wasn't sure if that was an assumed feature on these or not, it feels good in hand on the fullsize.

Did you experience slippage with the GW bipod?
-J

I didn't, but I've only shot it 6 times. Wasn't planning on using that, but it was just the bipod I had handiest. I'll shoot it again at distance today or tomorrow and pay closer attention.
