Haven't received mine yet but they are putting a spartan gs adapter in front of my mag well. I use the spartan arca adapter on my Tripod head and will be able to clip into either the spartan/ Pic on forend or in the flush gs adapter. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but works for me and doesn't leave a plate to fight
Are you using glass (bino or spotter) on your tripod as well?

Seems like recessed to be flush with stock, full length, or no rail would be preferable to a little stubby bump in front of the mag.
I’ve found that being just forward of the balance point works fine for carrying the gun.

I haven’t shot my CTR 260 enough off of hard improvised positions like trees and poles and such to comment. But with soft stuff it’s done great. You’d think with the stubby 2.5” plate it would suck off a bag, but damned if that gun just doesn’t stack rounds to POA/POI. Off a tripod, pack, roller up coat, whatever. With Leupold MK5 no less.

A couple weeks ago I shot 5 shots at a black 1” plaster on white paper at 100 yds after a rough hunt. Couldn’t see hits. Got close and found 5 shots in like .6” well inside the paster.
I keep waiting for equipment to fail but in the meantime the setup just shoots. Can’t remember how long since any adjustment was made, or that it put 5 shots over an inch. 10 shots in maybe 1.1”?

BTW the above is not a recommendation for this snagging arca plate set up.

I have a light Tikka 300WSM (skinny McGowan barrel), factory stock, no arca plate. It shoots reasonably well (10 shots in 1.3-1.7 MOA ish), but it's a lot of work. It's very sensitive to grip pressure.
I would expect great variability with an arca plate snagging a backpack, etc.

I suspect the greater weight and lower recoil of the 260/CTR just makes it unreasonably forgiving. And probably there's some luck involved with that particular barrel and Mk 5 scope.
