Rokstok Lite

I couldn’t tell you the specifics, but for starters, just the added weight of the Rokstock will make it more shootable.

My 20 in superlite with a bare muzzle and reg Rokstock feels just about right as a shootable mid range gun. I will be chopping it to 16 and adding a suppressor so the weight should be close to the same. I’ll also be ordering a Rokstock lite to try, but I’m very aware that it might just end up too light for field positions in hunting conditions. I think people are going to be surprised by this. I’m hopeful it will shoot 90% as well and I can cut another 8 oz out of my pack but I’m fully prepared to put it on the classifieds or a youth gun if it doesn’t.

I learned this with shotguns, was chasing the lightest set up possible but it took my wing shooting all to hell, went back to a 6.5lb gun from a 5lb gun and all was right again.

My rifles in Rokstock are generally 8.4-8.7 lbs, the lite just cuts half a pound so they should all be fine. I am going to do one 223 with a shorty factory barrel which I expect to be more like 7.5 which is about the bare minimum to be a decent shooter.

But you are right, the lite will almost certainly shoot a little worse than the regular. I am hoping its close enough that it still works well for small calibers. But like you said resale on them should be great so I am not sweating it.

Maybe just tone. But I'd like to hear some reports from someone comparing the airlocks to the OG otb cans. Perhaps similar tone can be had by the inner geometry.
The airlock is hands down a better sounding and quieter can than the OG. I own both and I don't believe I have heard anyone who has been around both that has said otherwise.

I posted about this in my side-by-side comparison. I didn’t comment much on tone, but happy to share my thoughts on it at greater length. I’ve also fired these cans more since then. Please ask any further questions about it over there so as not to go too far off topic in this thread:

@Stockys Curious about if bottom metal inlet options will be the same on RokStok Lite as RokStok (CTR vs factory plastic Tikka, primarily).
With MDT’s new CTR inlet patterned bm designed for AI mags, this detail decides whether I order 1 or 2 of these right out the gate. Thanks.

Stockys isn't going to release info about a project stock for a client. Ask Jake directly for an answer. @Unknown Munitions

Oh, they did 2 years ago when I asked the same question about the original RokStok, so chalk it up to learned behavior I guess.

I figure since they’re the ones that do the inletting and who Jake may confer with to see if they can manage the options at agreed to price points, etc.

Thanks for tagging Jake in on the quest for the answer though! Happy New Year!

Roksliders, here is the first glimpse of the highly anticipated Rokstok Lite. I will supply the production and retail info I know and then let @Formidilosus and @Ryan Avery take over with the real details you want.

I don't know yet if there will be a scalloped rail version, it looks like there may not be enough meat on there but we'll see. If there's not enough room we will design some super lite rail versions for it to keep the weight down.

The wood design is right at 20/21 ounces with butt pad, I don't know where the carbon will end up.

We plan to have the LOP backing plate integrated on this model so you can add spacers as needed. The original Rokstok needed the mold to incorporate the LOP and we did not think of that ahead of time.

Pricing will be very similar to the original Rokstok.

Action inlets will be limited to 700 Short, Tikka, Howa mini, Kimber, Savage. We are open to more requests, I may have missed some here.

We plan to make a youth model with a short LOP that comes with the spacer kit to grow with your child. Any input on minimum LOP would be great so we know where to start.

As the wood version has just been approved by @Formidilosus the process is to scan the stock, 3D print the stock for dimensional checks, then have molds made, then acid etch the molds, then start test inlets, then finally production stocks.

I won't try just yet to put a timeline on this, but will keep you updated on this thread as we move along. But the process is underway!!!

Thank you all for your support of UM and S2H!!!!

Excited so get my hands on this thing and check it out for a build

Just listened to the speakpipe podcast. I heard them say howa mini will be one of the molds and its got me pretty excited. Maybe I missed it but I didnt know they were gonna offer the mini. When the lites go up for purchase will it be for all models/ molds or will there be a delay from the tikka/rem 700.
Will there be ample room before the forend gets shorter in height to run an srs arca balance?
