Best way to scout an area you are not from.... Maps, biologist, what to look for on topo maps, stuff like that. Everyone always just asks on forums but there are alot you can find if you are lookiing....

This is a great idea and I would look forward to any and all casts that you guys release.

Right off the top of my head I can think of a few topics...

Elk tactics (early, mid, late season)
Technology used for scouting (Google Earth, CDOW, etc..)
Diet
Cardio/Weight routines and considerations
Archery topics (such as paper/broadhead tuning)
Backcountry food (dydrating meals, recipes, etc)
Backcountry communications (review of SPOT 2, InReach, Sat phones or whatever)
Spotter/Bino and required ancillary equipment review (tripod, pan head, bino harness, etc.)
Down vs Synthetic
Floorless vs Floored
Water Purification methods (pros and cons)
Solo or not?
Backcountry fishing- techniques, fly's, lures, etc..
Elk, Mule Deer- Anatomy
Wilderness First Aid

Very cool idea - looking forward to it.

Plenty of great topics listed...one other topic would be either state specific info on GMU's and species/draws/preference points...or even interviews with DOW officers or game wardens - both for general info or updates regarding fires/winters/habitat loss/wolves/etc.

A weekly reminder on preservation/conservation would be a good idea (RMEF might sponsor)...just a reminder to everyone that we all need to work to keep these places/animals we love there for the future.

It was mentioned earlier, but one on "when things go sideways" would be very informational. Emergency first aid, survival tactics used. If you could hash out specific scenarios that happened, how it was handled, what could have been done different. It could make for a good mix of story telling, as well as being informative.

Super idea and something I had thought about trying to do or put together myself by interviewing experienced guys and discussing all the topics I'm interested in as a newcomer to the backcountry hunting experience but between work and hunting I never made it a priority... I listen to a few other hunting podcasts and they all leave a lot to be desired so this should be great coming from Rokslide!!

I would really like to hear a podcast, how to plan and do a Western elk hunt, from the very beginning to the execution. Also would be interesting to learn how one can find a partner with a bit more experience. I really would like to go and hunt out west, but I have never done it and I am bit concerned of the process. A podcast would be huge help.

I'd love to see a topic on dealing with the psychological challenges of tough hunting situations. In my opinion, half the battle is in your head when hunting.
