Sign up for apple tv, close it, open f1tv, link accounts, watch on either at that point.
Gotcha, for some reason I thought the races were still going to be live broadcasted on a cable network like ESPN (and I could record on YouTubeTV). All the other stuff behind the paywall. Misunderstood I guess.

As far as I know. Yes.
You cant sign up for new memberships for F1 TV but it was more expensive than apple anyways.

Had to run the numbers. I paid $85 for F1TV yearly for 24 races, $3.50/race.

AppleTV is $12.99/mo for 10mo for 24 races which would be $5.40/race.

Also going to lose the Qatar and Saudi races most likely.

I don’t watch TV outside of sports so…doesn’t seem worth it. Trying to limit $$ spent on subscriptions...I’ll wait and see how things play out. Reddit is already handing George the trophy.

From what I’ve read the cars suck under the new regs. More about battery management than racing, tires are too good, and all the drivers except George/Kimi hate the cars (they probably do too but are winning).

But it sounds like the race was actually entertaining? I may bite on a 7 day trial for Japan.

Your right. I had remembered paying more for F1TV. For me its a net win. I'm pretty sure apple TV can be had for $100 a year which makes it 0.63 more a race.

I had to sign up for F1TV because I generally watch all FP and Quali saturday and the race sunday after I am done exercising. On more then 4 instances last year I got told by ESPN that I wasnt authorized to watch the FP sessions. Its frustrating since I have the highest legacy package. So I ended up getting bled by disney AND F1TV which total cost more than the apple TV.

Its kinda a moot point for me since I get Apple TV for the MLS package through my season tickets anyway so for me its a "savings" F1 moving to apple and not having to pay for F1TV and I already had Apple TV for the MLS games.

The first race was entertaining.

The new cars are doing what they are supposed to be doing which is give the drivers a choice when to deploy their battery. I suspect everyone will get on the same page fairly quickly about where they harvest and deploy. However, since they are all racing the tracks the first time with these cars the first races under these regs should be more entertaining.

I enjoyed the race.
Fun to see alot of DNFs. The solo wrecks are painful.
I'm pleased to see that the new cars are re-equalizing the field. There was a few young drivers in the points.
Lindblad looks good. I hope helmut can keep his dirty hands off him and not try to promote him to the gallows.

Helmut is no longer with Red Bull. Lindblad seems kinds cocky though - not sure he's earned it yet - he might choose to stay humble and keep the middle finger in its holster until he has a few more races under his belt.

As far as the race, i dunno... was there a lot of overtaking, yes, but the ping-ponging was kinda weird. It all begs to wonder how much will change when drivers get fully used to the battery and Mercedes and ferarri's respective advantages moderate either through regs or other teams wising up. Still, I do not like the whole 50/50 power split, the Zoom button, and the issues at the start. The FIA does not yet seem to realize the damn near disaster it had at the start. And what happened to the 5th light?

Shit I missed that over the winter break. Good riddance.

The lawson and perez incident soured me to lawson and I still havent gotten over it. It was pretty disrespectful.
Lindblad went pretty hard at max it will be intersting to see how it turns out over time.

I think it will be alot of fun while the drivers learn the track and where to regen and such. Next year probably not so much. I'm hoping for more carnage and formation lap and quali wrecks.

I didnt see a problem. Lights lit up and went out. It was quick but to my understanding that they vary how fast they go out.

They are trying to change the rules becayse everyone hates the new "power units." Downshifting on the straights is ridiculous.
