"Rokslide Classifieds" clogged and cluttered - consider separating?

The top post in "Rokslide classifieds" at the time of my post was about "clear out" certain brands of gear. That post that has now been replaced with numerous others at the top of the order. The one referenced has 50 or more posts in the last year about gear (fresh posts to sell, bumps, or responses to those posts) and two by my count with respect to taking part of discussion and joined in 2020... It was low hanging fruit to do a post count and the trend is to sell vs engage in the forum. One can click on a poster, look at their postings, and see/count how many are in classifieds (WTS, bump, etc) versus any type of discussion. Hope that helps. 👍 IMO, separation won't do it, if the forum is TRULY about discussion (i.e, a forum) then classifieds should be a de facto back seat for those who get/meet post count to sell. Afaik, it doesn't take post count to respond to a classifieds, correct? Flame on.

I'm going to keep the pointing out hoping it's realized this is not the spirit, IMO. Post for a certain brand of broadheads in the classifieds. And it's a bump...

Been here over 7 years, 138 posts... You all can do the count on when this poster was last part of general discussion (if you need a hint it was September of 2019). Folks doing this ought to know they're not playing with the spirit of what's intended, yet it's pervasive. Seriously?

Again, top post at this moment has 200 posts in the classifieds in this calendar year (895 posts total since 2018)) with zero of the 200 contributing to general discussion.

Craigslist charges folks to take advantage of them now.

Having a section for clothes (including boots, caps, etc) would be a step in the right direction due to the large volume of posts from members for these items. IMO....

The classifieds are broke into 14 categories at another local forum that I am on. I find that I only look at a few categories. I like that the Rokslide Classified section is diverse. Perhaps separating the clothing ads from it would "declutter" it a bit.

I am just happy though that Rokslide offers classifieds in general. Appreciate the people who maintain this.

Is there a way to filter out the sold, WTT and other things you may not want to see in classifieds?

My main gripe is guys that can’t be bothered to put the size in the title, so I have to click on it to find out it’s a medium.
Would be nice to break it up a bit more though.

Mtre than a few of guys posting get their 10 posts or throw the fee at it if they can't be bothered with 10 posts and start throwing up a Goodwill store amount of gear for sale. Or if not multiple items, that's all they come back for. Guys that regularly exchange in other threads need not flame because you know who you are and there is no heartburn.

Mods is there a way to filter out the classifieds updates/bumps from the rest of the posts on the what's new page?

It is very annoying seeing all these guys constantly bumping their 15 WTS ads, taking up all the space in the what's new page, especially when they don't contribute anything to the forum other than their gear they're selling.

That's how it's been for a long time, no one has done anything to address the situation.

I'm not sure if it's becoming worse or if I'm just noticing it more, but it seems like previously it had been lots of different productive members bumping ads and not always a lot of them, where now it's frequently just left ng strings of WTS ads by classifieds only people

A few month ago, maybe a bit longer, I was taking the top post in the classifieds and looking at the post history of those people, and posting the count of classifieds vs forum involvement on a regular basis. It's so clear what folks are doing and it's all clutter with no engagement otherwise or minimal engagement to meet a quota. All the bumps are a turn off and I'm not interested in that gear because the person is only trying to make a buck and not contribute otherwise.

It's particularly annoying when there's bumps for six different things from the same guy in a row, for stuff that's months old, and multiple pages long.

Lol, most of those types probably don't even see this or they would read the room and take a hint.
