Cheryl will check with the printer first thing this morning. She will find out when our absolute order deadline is. We should be able to get several more if there is interest. I will let you know as soon as I know
Cheryl just got off the phone with the printer. Our absolute drop dead deadline to order these shirts is tomorrow morning (June 27) at 8:00 am MST. If you would like to order one of these shirts (minus print on back), please send an email with your shirt size to [email protected] by 8:00 am MST tomorrow and she will get it taken care of for you.
D Long private mail is full
I would have to eat me some Advil for sure. Got me thinking about it, but all I do is bike. Some ski/trail poles might help me with the hardware in my lower spine. Next thing you know somebody takes off running and can't have ....that the chase is on. If you do not mind if someone just "shows up" at (the pre-determined time ??)and you keep us informed on here, which I am sure you will do about the particulars. My wife will probably shoot me..can you live with that
Ok Im interested in doing this, but I can't seem to find the message that gives the exact date and itinerary details, although the shirt tells me a lot. It might be worth bumping the current details to the top of the thread, and sign up information. If this is in the forum some where, maby I need to be redirected?
Here is a copy of some details for those of you thinking about it.
All,
Here is the info for the 2012 Rokslide Extreme Challenge. Due to several people's varying schedules, preferences of motels, budgets, etc, it was decided not to have any formal get togethers while in Aspen. Although nothing will be planned, I would hope that everyone would like to get together at some point to socialize and get to know each other.
The challenge should be a lot of fun! I look forward to meeting everyone.
Thanks,
Dave
1st Annual Rokslide Extreme Challenge
Four Pass Loop – Aspen, CO
Four Pass Loop Description: The loop is 26-28 miles in length. The exact length is hard to tell because there is one section of the loop where there is no GPS signal, but it is somewhere between 26-28 miles. The Challenge loop will start and finish at the Maroon Lake trailhead. The loop will be completed in a counter-clockwise direction and will traverse four mountain passes that are all over 12,400’ in elevation.
The trail is one of the most used, best maintained trails in Colorado. We will encounter several other groups of people while hiking. Although some of them will be doing the loop in one day as well, the majority of them will be backpacking the loop over the span of four days.
The scenery is absolutely stunning! It should be a fun time.
July 13
Travel day. Everyone will travel to Aspen.
July 14
5:30 am – meet at trailhead
6:00 am – start of challenge
4:00 pm – goal finish time of run/hike group
6:30 pm – goal finish time of hike group
*Although it is encouraged that everyone get together and visit while in Aspen, due to everyone’s varying schedules, plans, budget, etc, and the difficulties involved with planning, there will not be any formal gatherings or meals.
Trailhead Directions: Located 10 miles southwest of Aspen, Colorado, on Maroon Creek Road. From Highway 82 take the Maroon Creek Road exit at the roundabout on the west edge of town. Follow Maroon Creek Road to the Maroon Bells Welcome Station. At this time of morning, the station is closed so simply drive through it and continue on to the trailhead. It will take approximately 30 minutes to drive from the motel to trailhead.
General Rules:
Be sure to be at the trailhead early! The challenge must start at exactly 6:00 am. The group will not wait on anyone that is late.
Although we will most likely start as one large group, most likely we will separate into two groups along the way; hiking group and running group.
If a member of the running group falls off pace, he or she can simply finish the challenge solo, or drop back and join the hiking group.
At no point will it be allowed for a single person to be left behind the hiking group. If someone falls off pace, another member of the hiking group must remain with that person. It is simply too dangerous to have someone all by themselves at the tail end of our group.
Waiver: All participants must complete and sign a waiver relieving Rokslide, LLC of any liability for any/all accidents/injuries, etc that may occur when traveling to and from and during the challenge. I will get these emailed to everyone within the next couple of days.
Shirts: Please get with me the evening of the 13th to get your shirts. Due to time constraints, etc, I don’t want to distribute them at the trailhead the morning of the challenge. Once I know the exact cost, I will let everyone know.
Rick......no waivers will be taken to the trailhead. Things will be very busy that morning and I would rather not mess with them at that time. I can sure bring an extra one for you but we would need you to have you sign it the night before. We will all be staying at the Inn at Aspen if you want to stop by on Friday evening and sign one.
I want to do this really bad but don't have the time to get away from family. I also need all the vacation time built up for hunting season. Are you going to do it next year for sure or are you waiting to see how this one turns out? If so, I will plan on scheduling it for next year. Sounds like fun and great conditioning for early season hunting. Have fun everyone and be safe!
