Those Brooks Cascadias are great shoes. I've run through the 4s and 5s. You won't be disappointed.

As much as I hate to, I'm going to have to bow out of the Challenge. I really wish I could make it, but I'm realizing that leaving Momma home with a 6 week old probably isn't the best choice for me.... Figure it's better to invest a little time at home now and hope that she tells me to get lost a little in the fall, than push it from the get go. Maybe next year.

Luke......Yes, they are very nice! I have used them for (3) 40 minute runs now and love them!

No problem on the Extreme Challenge.....totally understand......there is always next year.

We are headed to Utah to try on some of those shoes tomorrow. Unfortunately we don't have any stores with high end gear in my neck of the woods. Otherwise I will be sticking with my running shoes. We have been working hard to get ready and are so excited! Thanks Dave for all the work you have put into this to make it happen.

Also, when you did this hike last year, how much water did you carry with you, and is their water along the way to refill if needed?

Rebecca.......there are a lot of water crossings on the loop. I believe I packed 32 ounces but refilled often.

Let me know what shoes you get.

The shirts for the Rokslide Extreme Challenge participants have been ordered. I will let everyone know the cost as soon as I get the final prices. Here is a mock-up of what they will look like:

CRAP! Now I wish I was gonna be there a day longer so I get one of those cool shirts :(
herdbull.....it's not tool late! You should really consider staying one extra day. It's gonna be a blast! If you can, I can add one shirt to the order.

Every time you start to think you are a pretty tough guy you read something like this, and realize that, hmmm, maybe, you're not quite there yet! :)
Good luck, guys!

Where do you camp after the first night? Is it possible to do day 1 only or day 2 only, and bag the peaks? Is the first day getting you in position to climb the peaks?
Sounds fun, but 48 miles in two days is a lot of hiking.

DANG! After training for my first 50 k this year, I'd love to do this with you guys except I'm gonna be maxed out on vacation time as it is. I wanna be on the list for 2013 though. With that in mind, I can make sure I draw a CO Archery Mule deer tag and combine a scouting trip and family trip as well...

Ok...I just bought some new trail runners. La Sportiva WILDCATs. I was boxing up the Brooks Cascadia 7 until I stopped to speak with one last person. Now have to get some miles on them now.

Paul0......we will only be doing the Day 1 event - the 28 mile loop......we won't be bagging the peaks.

2rocky & Lawnboi........yes, this will be an annual event, but the challenge will be something different each year. Don't want to get in the rut of doing the same thing every year.

Lawnboi......if you are serious about the shirt, let me know what size first thing this morning and I will get you one.

We have to order a minimum quantity of 12 shirts, therefore, I will have two extra shirts. I will request no print on the back of the two extra shirts.

That leaves one extra shirt.......if anyone else out there wants to purchase it......let me know. The first person that replies to this thread gets to purchase it.

If no one wants it, I will purchase it for myself.
