Ripcord rest draw cord issues with a Hoyt Spyder Turbo

Question: Is it ok for the draw cord, on a Ripcord rest, to rub on the riser of a Hoyt Spyder Turbo?

It slightly contacts the part of the riser that extends behind the grip, and I cannot find a way to avoid it...

I recently wanted to try a full containment rest after years of using a trophy taker. This is not an issue with the TT, so I can go back to it no problem.

Help?

is it touching when the cord is tight, as in you're at full draw? Does the rest still drop away when you launch?

Can you move that little "football" that is attached to the cable so it won't touch?

I've had two Ripcords and never had this issue. My cord touches a few things until I draw, then it's clear.

Robby, it looks like the cord is touching at full draw. I'll try get some pictures in the morning. It seems like it is because of the riser portion Hoyt has that extends behind the grip. I have no idea if it drops upon release. I'm afraid to fire it just yet...

I'd guess that you can fire it. It'll either drop or not.

However, I shoot feathers, so they won't break the prongs if they don't drop. Can't say a stiff vane would be as forgiving.

How is touching? Weird question, yes, but does it look like it will bind behind an edge or around a corner or anything? The "football" is rounded, and the riser should have rounded edges so I would say, unless it looks like it is going to get hung up, fire away.

The cord clamp for my QAD touches the control cable at full draw but, just barely, at the end of the draw cycle. Once it fires, it's not touching within a few millimeters...I have never had a problem. Actually, it's one of my visual references to keep track of how everything is working and see that nothing has moved. Over a few years, it has had zero negative effects on anything, strings, rest, etc.

I have a code red on my Faktor Turbo and the cord touches the riser slightly where it extends behind the grip just as your mentioning. I have shot at least 500 shots through mine and have not had a problem. Mine barely touches though so my only concerns is if it starts to rub through the cord. No problems so far. You might be able to run your football clip up higher with a shorter cord.

Its not going to alter the function of the rest. The cord needs to be routed on the outside of the riser bridge. Now one thing you may not have done is to move the launcher arm out to the farthest mounting position away from the riser. This will allow you to move the rest to the right( on a right handed bow) giving you more clearance for the cable on the riser bridge.

And ditch the "football" clamp. Those things are awful. Tie the draw cord in using a d-loop knot and then serve above it. This method doesn't need to be undone to make changes to the timing of the bow like you would using the clamp. Plus its much easier on the cable.

See if you can get a hold of a QAD clamp. I have had really good luck with them and once you find where it needs to be, you can tie it in. Or just keep it clamped.

I followed the instructions. About an inch up from the bottom of the grip...

Well that creates a short cord which will create more contact on the bridge of the riser. Its not going to keep the rest from functioning properly however. Its just going to rub more.

I can still lengthen it, I haven't cut it yet. Like I said, I was concerned about the setup, so all I did was serve above the cord on the buss cable.
