I was watching MeatEater Season 9 Wyoming Part 1. One of the guys, Adam Weatherby, was shooting off a rifle/tripod attachment. Really liked it. Does anyone know anything about that particular attachment?

I didn't look at it, but maybe Area 419 arcalock? You can youtube them to see if it matches.

For my purposes Davros might be the ticket.
Rail system, what are the advantages over the Davros.

ARCA is a more stable and secure mount for both the rifle and especially your optics.

A davros would probably be a a great option for predator hunting or some other applications. But for most of us who use the tripod for glassing 1st and shooting 2nd, ARCA is actually better at both.

I have and love the Spartan bipod and have the gunsmith adapter installed in one of my stocks and the supplied adapter to use on other guns. I also have ARCA rails on my primary rifles.

Also to clarify, ARCA Swiss is a standard plate and clamp used widely in photography and there are hundreds of companies and products that use it. Most tripod heads are acra these days.

The ARCA system on a better tripod would be better for glassing and shooting all around. At that point it just becomes a question of whether you think the cost is worth it.

It doesn’t have to be, ARCA is universal so you could spent $30 on Amazon and get a tripod and ball head or you could drop $1000 plus on Really Right Stuff set up.

The Spartan mounting system works great for a bipod, and that’s really what it was designed for. It is not optimal for a rifle and it’s suboptimal for optics.
