Has anyone found a good way to carry a rifle on a sling with a large pack on? Obviously most packs can carry a rifle but it's nice to be hands free but still have easy access to your rifle. Makes looking through binos and trekking poles easier to use.

How's the Safari sling? There's gotta be some others that allow front carry of a bolt gun without too much trouble.

Thanks

I use a safari sling on all my rifles , works with most packs. Last year I used it with duplex and cargo panel type setup and really liked it , might in the way with poles though .

I just use a really basic thin strap that rides right over my pack straps. All my rifles sport an Butler creek mountain sling. It's got a rubber coating on the insde so it doesn't slip around.

I like the stone glacier weapon sling. Others on here like the Kifaru something. The reason I like the stone glacier is because my rifle is behind my shoulder instead of under my arm like the Kifaru is. I think there are a few others but the stone glacier is affordable and just plain works

I use the safari sling and stone glacier. Great combo. Rifle is always ready with safari sling. It is nice to put it in the Stone Glacier if I need my hands free.

I ordered the Kifaru gun bearer but it hasn't arrived yet. I was wondering if it would be annoying to be under the arm... I read some people modified it to attach behind the arm. Anyone done it or believe it is fine under the arm?

It has never been an issue for me but we each have our own annoyance points, i dont think you'll really know until you try it.

We went to 1" webbing straps with quick clips on most of our rifles a few years back. Saves some weight over the standard rifle sling (which got heavier if they soaked up water) and have the bonus of being quick to clip in and out the line we have running around our packrafts. Comfortable enough to carry when needed, but also small enough that they don't get in the way when I carry the rifle on my pack. I typically carry the rifle in a slightly modified version of the corral gunslinger, which I can release quickly when needed.

On our Seek Outside Revolution, I just put the sling over the top head cut out. Worked well and was super easy for me at least.

I use the specialty outdoor sling or the Kifaru gun bearer. The sling isn't bad and it's nice to sling the rifle in low ready.

Yup, that works great and takes the weight of the rifle off of your shoulder. Also works over the top stay of the Stone Glacier.

I also use the Gun Corral Gunslinger. I have tried most of the others, but have found this to be the most comfortable carry and the quickest access.
