Rifle Setup: Christensen Ridgeline vs. Seekins PH2

Welcome! I did handle the element a few times. Nice rifle, but couldn’t justify spending over 2x over the Mesa. I also prefer the flush hinged floor plate and non spiral fluted barrel you get with the Mesa.

I agree with all points made, but … it’s SO light! Anyway, I’ll deal with my own demons haha

Also, this has turned into a very informative thread on optics. I didn’t realize some of the reputations a few of these companies apparently have. Glad you like that CA.

A little update, after a few years of real-world experience and getting DMs about other folks trying to make a similar decision.

I bought and sold a PH2, Mesa, and now have a Bergara. I thought the CA Mesa was too light and was hard (for me) to shoot accurately off my pack. I also (personal opinion) felt undergunned with a 6.5CM. I hunted with the Bergara Wilderness Ridge in 308 this season and loved it. Simple, accurate, and friendli(er) on the pocketbook. The PH2 I had was nice and may get another this offseason, but likely in 308 vs. 6.5 PRC.

I really like the VX-5 scope, which has been the only "constant" in this process.

A few of my learnings:

• First and foremost, it's just a gun. Tags and going hunting are the main thing.
• Two, lightweight setups aren't for me (I found I prefer a 9-10lb fully setup rifle)
• Third, I like to tinker and learn from first-hand experience. Sometimes I get stuck on analysis paralysis and do better... by doing and figuring it out.
