In the absence of price limitations, are there any set and forget, or low powered straight tubed, 1-6x24 SFP DG types you think would pass? I need something bomber for my 375HH And I would rather not use a rail to mount it, so my options are quite limited.
I would sure consider the swfa 1-6x24 hd. That absolutely can be used on 1 power despite ffp

That said...I have SWFA 3-9x, LRTS 3-12x, LRHS 4.5-18x, DMR 3.5-21x, Accupoint 3-9x on my rifles, and love Tikkas! 😉 I look forward to the testing results. Carry on with the beatin' gentleman!😎

Sounds like we have similar stables ... but I get that the quest for something else continues ... :)

I see what you are saying (Formidilosus has found scopes possessing certain characteristics to be reliable and preferred), but seems the Ascent could be a viable candidate for testing. The SHV 3-10x42 and NX 2.5-10x42 seem to be regularly recommended as rugged, repeatable hunting scopes that are SFP and MOA reticles without the typical target turrets.

Trijicon calls it a "BDC Target Hold Reticle", but in looking at the reticle diagram, it seems that the reticle has standard MOA hash marks (evenly spaced). They also claim "long range performance" for what that's worth...A guy can dream....😄

Not sure how the erector system would stand up to repeated dialing, but the combination of 17.8 oz. lighter weight, decent reticle, reasonable price point, good glass, 12x magnification and supposed "rugged" reputation could make it attractive to some if tracking and maintaining zero stand up to testing.

The Ascent and Huron have HORRIBLE eye relief. Anyone considering buying one needs to actually lay their eyes in one before buying. I don't know why Trijicon did that with those scopes.

*I initially posted this in the wrong thread.

I would like to see this test done on the SHV, LRHS or LRTS, and the SWFA scopes that have been cited as dependable in past posts.

A $5000 Tangent Theta doesn't do much for me personally. I'll never spend that much on a riflescope and I would imagine there are more people who can relate to that than are actually purchasing optics of that price point.

I certainly enjoy checking out all of the test results anyway. Thanks for doing this Form/Ryan.

Brief update. The Brown Truck just delivered the Huron. With my scientific system (Wife using a measuring tape from the ocular bell to my eye), eye relief seems to be 3.25" to 3.5" and didn't appear to change much with magnification. It may be a week or so before my rings arrive to get it mounted and really try it out.
Is this your personal experience, or based on what you see in the specs (2.2"-3.2")? The few reviews I've seen had no complaints on eye relief. One Rokslider stated, 3.25-3.5", which seems adequate. I would certainly like to confirm this, and hopefully can get my hands on one at the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo next week. Would be a big fail by Trijicon if eye relief is as short as listed, and I'd probably avoid it too...definitely worth checking.

Based on my sample of one, it is as advertised. I doubt it hit 3 on the low end.

Ok ok seems from the Talley in my head the 2.5-15x42 Credo is one of the most requested.
We gotta get it tested. Its the only smaller framed mid sized scope @Formidilosus doesn't have data on, he has already testified the shv and nxs are solid. Not every rifle needs a big heavy 30oz 50mm scope. I don't care to much about weight but a lighter 2fp 15x scope is what I'm looking for the wife.
I put i 3-15 nxs on for her and had her shoot a 10x she was fine to 500 but any further and she wanted the 15x
@Ryan Avery do we need to make enough donations to cover the entire scope?
If I buy one and reason to Expect trijicon wouldn't cover me if it breaks so I have something to salvage?

The rest Ryan will answer, however no, there is no reason to think Trijicon wouldn’t warranty it. However, the risk of damage is always there from this, even though it only sees a padded mat.

I don't care much if the finish gets messed up.
But id like to have someone functional for use or to sell 😆

I understand. It’s a risk each time. I think all but one scope for these evals have been personally purchased by Ryan or myself, with the risks inherent.
