Ridgeline in a Manners EH1

I’m thinking about ordering a Manners EH1 for my Christensen Arms Ridgeline in 6.5 PRC. I know it’s a 700 clone but it also has the side bolt release. Does the Christensen action match up better with one of the other 700 clones, that also has the side bolt release, when I order the inlet? Or will it drop right in to the 700 SA inlet? Was just hoping to avoid having to notch out a brand new stock and thought maybe someone has been down this road before.

Thanks!

Yes. Manners will cut the stock for the ridgeline and it will mate perfectly. Most of the time the difference between a M700 and clones is the ejection port length. They vary from manufacturer to manufacture. It appears that the CA is rounded at the front and angled at the rear

The eh1 is a great stock long range shooting and hunting. I’ve owned about 6 of them over the years. Doesn’t hurt that they look badass too!F22AA061-4438-4DFE-98C7-D7D3D786BBA1.jpeg6FB41739-24D1-4DA7-B859-6C442A9829C2.jpeg

Thank you both! That’s great to hear. I was a little concerned with the bottom metal fitting too, if I went with the 700 inlet. Nice to know it’ll be an exact fit.

I would talk to manners first, while the LPA action will drop into a rem700 inlet it isn’t perfect and will need work to make it look right. That may not be the issue with the CA but there maybe a better clone inlet to match it up to vs just going with a rem700. Another diff clones will have is the bolt angle can be swept vs straight but looking at the above pics the CA looks close if not the same as a rem700 in the bolt.

But if your ok with slight modifications or work to a stock I’m sure the Rem700 would get you 95% of the way.

That was pretty much my plan. Buy a 700 SA and tweak it to make it fit. I had been checking the “Stocks Ready To Ship” page on Manners site pretty much every day but just couldn’t find what I was looking for in the 700 SA inlet. Figured it was time to just order the options I wanted but didn’t see the Christensen action as an option, which was the reason for my OP. Now that I know they can inlet for that I need to call them up and get the waiting game started.

The side bolt release on the CAs set very low. I would call Manners before ordrering expecting it to fit. On my Stocky's VG2s I had to dremel for the side bolt release. I would be less concerned with the bottom metal.

Thanks Ryan! I was originally going to go with the VG2 as I loved the way yours turned out. However, they didn’t have that inlet/barrel contour in stock and said they could be out for several months as they were moving production in house. Sounds like Manners will (or at least can) inlet specifically for the CA. I’ll be giving them a call this week and hopefully getting an EH1 coming. I’m sure that will be “several months” as well.

You may want to give AG Composite a call and see what they say. I prefer them to Manners. They have several new styles. The Alpine hunter will be the closest to the vg2 with some improvement. I will be doing a review on it on LRO.

Get ready for a 6 month + wait. Tom is a great guy but they need to figure out a more efficient manner of building stocks.

It is not about efficiency. It is about number of molds and number of employees. As long as the demand is there they will continue to do business as usual. McMillan is the same way. Yes both make great stocks but be prepared for a wait. AG is currently around 8 weeks.

AG says 2 day turn around on their website, or did last I looked. Yeah a few of my buddies are good friends with Tom and that is a constant discussion in how they can reduce wait times, hard thing to improve on when you have a customer base currently waiting. I’m kind of shocked they don’t have a build up of their stocks they sell they most of and inlet as ordered. Now I’m not a stock builder but I would assume they are all using cnc machines to inlet today. If business is constantly backlogged months maybe it’s time to invest in more resources and grow?

I do think we’ll start to see more competition come to market though, similar to AG.

Manners builds their stocks one model at a time. Meaning they do a large run of eh1’s. Then Eh2’s. Then Eh3’s...etc... they don’t go in exact order of how they were placed. That’s the most efficient way to produce stocks. All companies that produce “niche” items won’t simply buy more million dollar machines to shorten lead times. Backorders are job security. Not a lack of means. They are currently 5 months out give or take. Not long ago they had 10-12 month leads

I wonder what their percentage of orders canceled is?

I know it is high. I’ve bought a couple lol. They also fill other orders with canceled stocks or put them in the Online Store. I haven’t seen the factory with my own to eyes but my shooting partner has and let’s just say Tom doesn’t want Trump to build a wall.

I doubt illegals are buying all his stocks and a bit presumptuous to assume his workers are illegals.

Did you ever end up contacting manners? Will they inlet it for a CA action?

I sent them an email and they confirmed they can inlet for the Christensen Arms action. They said to just put that in the remarks if you order online, as that action isn’t an option in the stock builder. He said approximately 6 months wait time.
