No problem! Let me know if you have any more questions. I've not hunted 50 but have hunted the units across the highway from it my whole life and spent a lot of time in 50 for fun and work so I'll try to answer the best I can.
Oh, also another treat there is to glass off the Rio Grande Gorge bridge for bighorn sheep. A few are usually in view and sometimes up close on the top.

A couple of years ago I was sitting at a large stock pond with my brother in northern AZ during a Sept. bow hunt. As soon as the sun went down there were so many mosquitoes that there was a constant drone. They were biting us through our shirts because we applied replant to any exposed skin. It was unbearable.
Over the last 12 or 13 years I have hunter there with him in Sept. and early Oct. we have yet to see a snake.

Hahaha, thanks, I guess I'm worried about the wrong critters. Lots of mosquitoes here in MI so I should be able to handle that. Though I've never seen a "constant drone"!

Nothing new to add really but I'll reiterate what others have said. I've hunted 50 in late October rifle season once and tagged along with my dad twice before that. The only potentially harmful critter we ever encountered was a big rattlesnake in the malpais rock toward the bottom of one of the mountains that rise out of the sage. Just be aware of where you step and put your hands in the lower elevations. Otherwise, it was just mice that bothered us by eating any food accessible to them, including inside of a pack that wasn't fully zipped.

Glad to hear that hopefully there won't be too many snake encounters. I will be hunting Unit 2 not too far from the Jicarilla, bull elk from from 10/14-18. I do not like snakes! I scream like a girl when I see one!

I had a prairie rattler crawl in the blind right under my chair. If you scream like a little girl "real loud" they will turn around and go back the way they came:)

Ive hunted 51 & 52 in September. The temps were pretty cool. I wouldn't expect much activity out of either snake or bugs. Like others have said just be mindful were you put your feet and hands.
